I imagine everyone in here making unfunny jokes about swagger are old men that are soooo out of touch with the modern day athlete.

That being said that gif is funny.

Are you saying I'm an old man and I'm soooo out of touch with the modern day athlete?
Or are you talking about others?

I'd really, really like to know.

Really.

Why are people equating swag with talking trash? Guys have been talking trash since the beginning of the NFL. And those were some dorky guys.

Dez Bryant has the most receiving touchdowns among WRs over the last 3 years. 7th in yards. I'd say he's doing his job.

Dez can hold court. He has no felonies, no misdemeanors, no complaints by any single teammate.
Dez can show his heart.
He talks the talk, he walks the walk.
Jimmy would LOVE to have had him on any team he has ever had.

Love that guy.

You and I are almost always on the same page.
I expect we are here also, in The End.

I think my old *** is going to throw on a Doors album now...
Or watch Apocalypse Now for the thirty millionth time.

Who cares about swagger? Just do the job. Something Dez needs to learn. Playing on a team is a part of the job. Catching routine passes; part of the job. Smack talking, quitting, yelling at teammates, and acting cool and tough are not. He is a disgrace to the #88, sometimes.

How old are you? Yea... "swag" (I hate that word) or confidence matters. I stopped reading after thr first line.

Please explain the modern day athlete?

Can't wait to hear this.

The modern day athlete moreso than athletes of past generations is more likely to engage in trash talk on the field, promote their individuality/personality thru wardrobe/dances/hairstyles/etc, and will use this to develop a swagger within themselves and their teammates to build camaraderie and an identity. I think Pete Caroll has embraced the individuality of his players where as Garrett suppresses it. I know you think this is trivial and that all that matters is good players vs. bad players, good plays vs. bad plays, good execution vs. bad execution....sorry it's not that black and white. Intangibles matter. Another misconception is that it comes solely with winning. I remember a Babe and Moose interview from 2 years ago where they were having a similar discussion and Moose said that the 90s teams had developed the swagger and camraderie in the losing years prior.

Like i said there is a disconnect btw those of your ilk from the older generation and those of my generation. Considering I've played the sport for half my life and that I am of closer age to the avg NFL player than some of you mocking the suggestion that swagger matters, I think I'll take my opinion over yours.

Umm if you think nfl players were not outlandish in the 70's and 80's and 90's then you either didn't watch or have not gone back and watched.

The rivalries used to be more bitter, the game more violent, the celebrations were much more crazier and on and on.

Your take on this is actually backwards. Today's players care more about money and their next contract than former players did. This and the salary cap has ruined rivalries.

People used to intentionally injure other players, used to wear gloves with needles and nails in them.

Do yourself a favor and go download some raiders games from the 70's and then get back to me about today's athlete and swagger.

And I know your real intent is racial but you don't have the balls to say as much.

Your intent is racial? If you're going to sling mud can you at least use a complete sentence.

I reccomend strange days. It's one of my favorite all time albums.

Original mono vinyl if possible.

Have it.
I have a fantastic album collection. Thanks to Half Price Books in Austin, Texas- The best book stores in the nation.
I now know you appreciate the purpose of the vinyl album.
To create a journey for the listener.
At least classic album makers before the age of Singles and MP3's did it. Now- not so much...

Now it's all about making a hit. That's it. Get a million hits on Youtube for your one good song written by some stranger that sold it to your producer.
When Vinyl was king- it was all about the journey from the first song on Side A to the end on Side B.
Albums were so much better in times past.

Now I truly do sound like an old man...
Good to hear from, I hope, a kindred soul.

I'm blasting my record player as we speak...
And I've got 70's Superhero Italian exploitation movies playing on mute on the 60 inch.
Home-made Bloody Mary's at the ready. Triple Vodka'd. Every one.
Who knows what I'm going to post for the next three, maybe four hours!

I have to disagree. I think the pop music from American idol and the crappy bands left with record deals make singles and their music is disposable crap.

But there are a ton of great bands making albums and releasing them on vinyl. Tons. Vinyl is doing great.

"Your intent is racial" is not a complete sentence. Like I said, if you're going to sling mud, have some balls and be a little more direct and clear.

I was plenty clear. You always imply this stuff.
