Miles Austin -- was on the field for several of the 3 WR sets this week. He clearly outplayed Hurd last week. Anyone think he's started to take Hurd's job?

I think he was in there because of his speed to stretch the field deep. I dont know why WP wouldnt put Stanback in there to send deep though.

I WANNA SEE STANBACK :) But Austin has been solid the past 2 weeks.

Austin HAS taken his job...Hurd is what he is now....a fourth or fifth string WR.

Actually, I thought every time Austin was out there, it was Crayton who left the game. I could definitely be wrong tho.

I hope Austin supplies a consistent deep threat. We have heard so much about his speed it was good to see it last night.

Maybe he relieve the pressure on TO, witten?

Cowboys supposedly have believed from the start that Austin has a much bigger upside then Hurd because of his speed (he's real fast but not Terry Glenn fast) & size. He made 2 good catches against the Jets & yesterday's 2 interference calls were necessary because DB believed Austin had him beat for big gain/TD. Expect to see more of Austin in next few games along with Hurd. The big question hanging over everything will be whether Terry Glenn can return/contribute this year and next or not. The development of Stanbach and his future contribution also plays in.

Lets see Austin execute a quik slant, a 15 yd out, a crossing pattern in LB country.........before we annoint him over Hurd

Easy to surprize G.Bay on a go route with a 4th string WR who has never seen the field on a play from scrimage

He is gonna have to show the next team a short or medium pattern in order to get the cb any tighter than 12 yds....

He gonna have to get Romo's trust to be in a particular spot at a particular time in this Timeing based offense........

the Speed factor is great..........but he is just a go-guy until proven otherwise

oh, by the way can he block out on the perimeter?

I guess you didnt see the slant he caught against the Jets and took it upfield for about 20

Yep.

I thought he showed the guts to run those routes and he looked good after he caught the ball.

I think thats the key though. I think he has the size to go over the middle and catch passes he looked good on the 2 he got against the jets, but the key to having someone be respected as a deep threat is to do what we did against the packers and toss some deep throws like that to Austin. As appearant the CB new he was beat and got the PI. Teams will start to see this and and take notice and give him huge cushions than we can work him over the middle. He has a lot of upside I just have to be patient with him something I didnt do in the pre season with him.

He did great returning kicks too. Looked like he was going to score on a lot of them. One thing he needs to learn how to do is...break a tackle. Didn't he get tackled by a kicker on one of those returns last night? Maybe he is afraid of fumbling.

If nothing else, Austin made a heckuva case for KR...He looked the most impressive guy we've had back there...Hopefully, he'll get even better.

Yup 1 slant and a couple of Go patterns cements a job change.........

I'm all for Austin and/or Stanbach to be blended into the Offense, We do need an element of Speed to be a threat opposite TO, and to get the SS out of the box.........

key word is blended......

Hurd has helped us get to this point.......scrap pile not where he has to go

1 injury to TO or Crayton again, gotta keep Hurd Involved and part of offense

what is the fasination with Dallas Fans wanting to change starters at this position, that position, this week, last week........

Whats the rush with Stanback people?

Like we need more weapons on offense right now.

You guys, and your not alone, need to take a chill pill with the Stanback talk.

He's a 4th round guy who is making a switch from QB to WR/Returner.

Let him learn and grow up some.

You act as if 16 career receptions (11 this season) are of such great significance that they have cemented Hurd in the 3rd receiver position.

Hurd was ahead of Austin solely because he wasn't as raw coming out of college. That should change (and apparently is changing) relatively quickly.

I was pretty surprised that TT got that job. Austin was very good at the end of last year.
