Has BP overcoached Julius Jones?

In JJ's first year his running style was fluid. If the point of attack was closed he ran to daylight, which is instinctive of great running backs. I noticed in his second year he would run directly into the hole even if it was closed. To me, when a back improvises it keeps the defense honest. What do you think?

He was making some nice cuts last night

You make a point though, improvisation is what made guys like Sayers and Sanders great RBs

Remember BP and his absolutely STUPID rant about negative plays last TC? He was aiming this right at JJ and that was a stupid thing since JJ had had maybe a half dozen of those in 8 games. He got into JJ's head and messed him up. Also keeping two hands on the ball all the time- you show me a top RB that does that. Running where the play is designed no matter what- THAT is stupid. MB last night tried to run- there was no hole so he tried to take it outside and got nailed for a 5 yd loss. How much you want to bet that BP will be all over him for that- not taking the O line to task for not opening holes.

I think that there is a good chance that Julius Jones is a high quailty, change of pace, 3rd down back who is being miscast.

Did anyone see the improvised run of Reggie Bush? The left side was clogged, he reversed to the right and gained 40+ yards. This is what I'm talking about. Using good instincts, running to daylight and making the defense earn the stop when they read the point of attack. Not just plowing into a clogged hole hoping to get what you can.

I'll wait and see how he plays in the regualar season. A good RB will run the best way fits him. if you start listening to the protoype running style and tecnique that the coach wants, you'll throw your game off big time....So he either starts running the way he wants or he's going to be finding himself being MArion Barbers backup.

You do realize you'll probably get shot for saying that?

But I agree with you. I think the guy just takes too many hard shots to ever stay healthy. He just doesn't seem to have that instinct to turn hit's into glancing blows like really good RB's do.

I'm a little worried for Julius. The line is very suspect. I don't have a lot of confidence in the line this year. I personally think our offense will be very wish washy. At one time we could be opening holes up for Jones and leaving Drew with tons of time to throw the ball, but I think most of the time we'll be letting the D attack our weakness and make us look silly.

If you are deep in your own territory, or trying to stay close to get a FG, then negative plays are something to avoid and that is when you put your head down and get what you can. BUT only then- otherwise I think you need to be looking for a hole to run through no matter where it is.

I think JJ deserves to get the most carries on his record of what he has done while in the game. If he cannot handle 20 or so carries a game- and I really see no reason why he can't- then let MB take his shot.

My only concern about JJ is that he gets tatooed waaaaaaaaay to often. Like someone mention, the good backs don't take big hits. Rarely did Emmitt take a big hit.

Do you think T.O. will change the way defenses play JJ which will create more 7 man fronts for him to play against?

defenses willhave to, not because of Terrell only, but because of Terrell, Glenn, Witten, and Fasano.

IF the O line does not improve, the only way we get good yds on the ground will be because the D is worried badly about the pass.

ive been worried about this since very early last year.. he just looks like he is running differently, like he is running scared to messed up.. he is running safe.. he looked like something special his rookie year.. i just hope he is allowed to do his thing..

i am a big Parcells supporter, but this is one area that i think he might have done more harm than good..

yes, there were plenty of these threads last year around week 3-4. I want to give him at least 1/2 a regular season without injury before I pass judgment.

I totally agree with this post and it is the sole reason why I am having trouble having as much faith in this squad as some. The OL is simply not good enough IMO.

As has been said by many: this team will go as far as the O line can take us.
