Has Camden Brown made the 53?

Well, if there’s an inactive keeper option, then he’s definitely made that. No practice squad for him that’s too optimistic when it comes to the waiver wire
It depends on what he does from here. If he disappears in the next two games, then I don't know if any team will claim him when they've got their own guys to worry about. If we were doing roster cutdowns today, I have little doubt that he would be on the 53. But we've seen players burn bright before and then burn out quickly.

Respectfully I could not disagree more. Camden would soon be a #2 WR on most teams, easily a #3 immediately
Respectfully, you are not serious? A UDFA who looked good in 1 preseason game would easily make WR3 on any team in the NFL? I get that everybody is excited, but c'mon

How do you know this? Have you been at training camp? Do you have the All 22 subscription? Do you know Will McClay?
Trying to watch what footage I can find from camp. From what I can tell, he does a good job coming out of his cuts on routes that break to his left. There are several examples of that from camp and even one of his catches against Seattle. He broke left on a crossing route and got good separation. I do think his speed (or lack thereof) shows up on some of his deep routes/end zone routes, but he's such a good contested-ball receiver that he's making plays anyway.

That's just an incomplete observation on my part based on what we have to go on. In college, it didn't look like he got a lot of separation, but just made the play anyway, but I have seen some decent separation by him on throws to the flat or comebacks the break to his left. His ability to make those deep, contested catches makes those routes more effective because DBs have to respect him deep even if he can't outrun them.

Downs should have nothing to do with being on a kick return....Mingo I would listen to if he makes the roster
Downs certainly is a punt return guy. He is probably the best one on the team. He can be used a few times over the season just like they did with him at Alabama and Ohio State.

Sounds like it’s time to test it out during the next couple of games.

I'm thinking that I would use Mingo and Downs on punt returns and Izzy or Blue on kickoff returns.. Maybe the rookie Smith.

Well, if he just looks too good at receiver to make the practice squad, he would probably be an inactive keeper. I think we sometimes get caught up in these bottom-roster players got to play special teams, but there also have to be inactives each week. Some of those will be hurt players, but some will be reserves who don't offer anything on special teams.

I've always had trouble with expecting receivers to be great on special teams coverage teams. I'd just prefer they be really good receivers.
The point about ST is that’s what gets them active for games

NFC Championship game Dallas is behind by 2 and has forced Seattle to punt from their 30. Downs takes it back to the 30, Aubrey makes the kick and Dallas is on to the Super Bowl. That would be an excellent reason to use him.

That could very well happen.

Yeah, just not everyone has to be great at it to be kept. You want to be active, you better be a starter or play special teams.

He’s made a couple of circus catches, people get excited over that
I haven’t finished a evaluating him myself, I’m not sure what the team thinks of him
Don’t think it’s just a couple of circus catches. He has arguably had one of the best training camps and they even elevated him to first team reps for practice a few times.
They obviously see something and are looking at him very hard. I think he makes the 53.

Don't think Mingo has ever returned punts. Same with Anthony Smith for punts and kickoffs. Some players are just not made for it. Abanikanda has returned kickoffs.
