Has Dak alienated much of the Fanbase

Dak's contract is on Jerry.

I can't remember anything Dak has ever done to alienate people except playing poorly in the playoffs, and he's not doing that to spite us, or out of lack of preparation, or any other personal failing but apparently just not being that good.

Don't expect players to take a lower salary than they can get for your benefit. Sometimes they take a lower salary, but that's never for the fans, that's for the goals of the player, and one player discounting his price won't appreciably affect the team's prospects unless it's a huge discount on a QB.

Players may take a discount to *join* a true contender, but they aren't in a position to turn a middling team into a contender by taking a pay cut.

Brady managed it. He went to a contender needing a QB, took below market, and being Brady, attracted other older players similarly willing to try to push Tampa over the top *because* Brady was there. It wasn't really his below market price that made the difference, it was his above market potential to push the team over the top by his play.

None of that applies to Dak. He's not a big *addition* to a contender, he's the status quo of a team that makes the playoffs but never makes any noise in it, and he's coming off his worst season.

Before the injury hit, I thought Dak had gained back much of his agility. He was moving well again.

At the time it was a bad signing by Jerry and only got worse in retrospect as Dak as last year had his worst season *and* had a season ending injury.

he didn't hold out!!! he was under contract. he was at camp. Jerry wanted it redone. if he would have redone it properly earlier and not wait wait wait...he could have resigned for 55.

Jerry had the choice to say no, I am moving on. but man, the year before Dak was 2nd in MVP and top 10 in jersey sales and that's all that mattered to Jerry. market it and cash in.

this is not a defense of Dak. its contract negotiations and it takes two to tango....but jerry is an idiot. and you blame Dak for Jerry being an idiot and want Dak to save jerry from being an idiot.

and let me ask, lets say it was 60M, would you been OK if it was 55M? is that your point?

and the contract is not hindering...its the Joneses that are hindering. we have 60M in cap space. we can open another 20M if necessary....

and why are you worried about many years later? are you thinking about building a dynasty? those days are over. Philly went all in. pushing money tot he future and they will have to deal with it at some point. in the meantime, the lombardi trophy is in their building....Rams did the same. they sucked for a couple of years but they went to one and won another one.

not sure why you worried about future years..... sounds like you want to blame everything on Dak, where he is part of it, but it starts and ends with the two idiots at the top

15 QBs make 40M or more.
10 make 50M or more

the QB market is crazy...but its the market. not saying Dak deserved a 60M contract. the idiot at the top gave it to him. but the market is what it is.Jones doesn't go by QB market, he goes by popularity and how many jerseys he can sell market.

The Dak contract is another instance of Jerry being Jerry, but this time, we're confident on the fail up front and see it playing out for the next half decade.

I think that's the alienation for me and many others. Signing Dak wasn't pushing us over the top, it was locking in not being a contender for a long time. The build up after a tear down is at least fun, with young guys getting better and *hoping* they'll get better enough to be a contender. Now we're old guys who aren't enough and will most likely just get worse. There's no hope there.

Not really.

A common refrain during the good play *during the regular season* is "yeah, let's see it in the playoffs". We've seen regular season good times followed by poor play in the playoffs too many times. Most everyone *expects* the poor play in the playoffs now, and many are vocal about it during the regular season good times.

I figured that the next 3 to 4 seasons we will pretty much spinning our wheels no matter how much Jones & Sons spend in free agency or how many home runs we hit in the draft. Dak taking this team a NFC Championship game is a pipe dream.
I’m going to casually watch for the next 3 or 4 seasons just to see how much more his play deteriorates.
