Has Dak alienated much of the Fanbase

He didn't "take the money." He fought for it and insisted on a short term deal, making sure we wouldn't win.
Yep, this narrative that it's Jerry's fault for giving him the contract, as if he approached it as "Dak, please take more money, please add a NTC".
The big kicker is that 4 year duration..... to allow the 2nd-MVP Star get to FA earlier (as he did in the previous contract). Oh yes we can restructure and add as many Void Years as we like, but the bill WILL get paid, in full, in 2029.

Ridiculous. No one takes less than offered. Ownership treated him like crap by not extending him after 3 years and again later

A-social systems force people to become a-social.

No offense. I fully understand that you have to think that way. Humans are adaptable because they have to survive.

I just hope you dont lack the kownledge that people fundamentally are not that way. Of course not. Humans are social beings.

Dont blame Dak for signing a ridiculous contract, blame our idiot GM that agreed to it.

If a player demands to be the highest paid in the league and the GM of the team he currently plays for says, "sure, sounds fair".

Why you going to be pissed at the player?
We're pissed at BOTH, mate.

The Dak contract was horrendous when signed but as time goes on, it just gets worse.
The fact that Dak had to hold out for the Maximum amount feasible rubs me, and others I'm sure, just for the fact that he came across as more greedy than committed to winning.
Watching all the FA activity for all the other teams and how so many don't sign to the maximum but for amounts they seem respectable.
But not Dak. He didn't seem to give a squat about helping the team. He signed the most crippling contract he could for the teams sake.
Not only will his contract hinder us presently, with the restructures where they convert his salary to a bonus, he will be causing us cap problems well after he is gone for two to three years afterwards.
While his restructuring helps us short term, it will limit us for many years.
I don’t blame dak, I blame Jerry Jones

How about blaming the crap ownership that routinely drags out contract extensions with players they know they want to keep?

A smart team would have had Parsons taken care of last year. Instead we get to watch his number continue to climb higher by the day.

Should have never resigned his bum ***,I would rather have gone 0-17 than be stuck with that "Muck" any longer.

He did what every player in the NFL would do in that situation.

And don't give me Brady, who was married to a supermodel who made more money than any player in the league.
Insist on a short term deal so the team will be unable to put a team around him? You are incorrect.

He hasnt alienated me because of his contract. Players take whats been given to them and if their agent knows his stuff, then they get more. I mean we're doing the same thing (on a different level of course), I fought hard for all my raises and I think I now earn quite a bite more than other people in my position.

He alienated me because of his absolutely horrendous inconsistency and unreliability. Whenever it mattered this guy couldnt deliver. And yes, the Daksters will immediately come to his aid and give you crap about team and stuff. Well in football it all begins and ends with the QB. This last season has proven, that the team is going where it goes, with or without Dak. He provides absolutely nothing. The only thing he can do is beat up backliners even harder than the backup QB. But he wins the games a backup QB wins and loses the ones a backup QB would lose. And this is not what a QB1 should be. He should take a team one step further, push it over the hill so to speak.

And all this nonsense about weak o lines... he had years with pretty good o lines actually. AND good receivers. In those last 8 years everything and everyone around him has been replaced and he could never get it done. Everyone else is the reason why this team cant deliver, never him of course. And thats the way it will be until his tenure with the Cowboys ends some day.

**** Dak and everything he represents.

With that being said the true culprit here is still Jerry. Shouldnt have resigned him.
Not true.

How did so many miss this, that Dak insisted on a shorter term deal? Do you guys seriously not understand what that does to a team?

Jerry sucks as a GM. Dak is anti-team. Both can be true. And they are.

Dak got one SINGLE MVP vote.
yeah, fine. but he was in the conversation. people thought of him enough for him to get bunch of 2nd place votes, etc.... meaning he was playing at a high level enough to be considered.

with that said, I advocated for Jerry to let him play out the last year and move on. it would be best for both. but Jerry wouldn't have it. I mean for Gawd's sake, who waits until an hour before first game of the season to sign a contract. someone looking for media attention and drama, which is what jerry does best.

Dak got one SINGLE MVP vote.
... following his rookie season in 2016. Dak Prescott received 17 second-place MVP votes but zero first-place votes for the 2023 award. Josh Allen had the single first-place MVP vote (Lamar Jackson captured the remaining 49) two years ago.

Dak has not alienated the fanbase, Jerry has by signing him to a market setting deal.
I think both can be true.

Dak held the line to get an NFL record setting deal and then ran his pie hole about "not playing for the money".

Dak looks like a liar and greedy.

Jerry has also lost the fanbase with these nonstop dumb contracts. In some sense, he was probably glad to see the Mavericks GM crush his own franchise in one of the worst trades ever. That was comparable to the Hershel Walker trade.
