Dak's college scouting report:

Hyper aware of pressure around him and lacks awareness to slide and find temporary shelter to make throw. Concern over pressure too often trumps ability to get through progressions. Must speed up the pace of his reads. Footwork is a mess. Slight stride onto stiff upper leg with little weight shift. Restricted follow through and too often tries to muscle throws with upper body. Throws to target rather than leading or throwing them open on short/intermediate throws. Too respectful of underneath coverage and must be more willing to challenge the defense. Needs to improve anticipation.

IMO last season the o-line and Zeke covered up his deficiencies. He has the same deficiencies that he had in college. Dak has an elite work ethic so this is concerning. Does pressure cause him to revert back to poor mechanics? What areas has Dak improved since college and what areas does he still need to work on?

Dak may not have been as good as some thought as a rookie, but he's definitely not as bad as some fans think he is now.

Take a breath. He's going to be our QB next season. It will tell us what we need to know going forward.

Hopefully, Kellen can help him with his footwork, and an OL coach can help the OL remember what they're supposed to do, and upgrade WR's that can actually catch the football.........getting WR's for Wentz last off season helped Wentz more than Wentz helped Wentz....look at the difference that made.

Hopefully the offensive line can be rebuilt. Dak has to have protection to be effective. He gets entirely too antsy in the pocket if there is any pressure put on him at any point in the game.

Of course every QB will struggle if pressured too much though. I know Dak has the work ethic and WANTS to improve.

Quit making a million commercials and solely focus on QB skills and I think he can be pretty good.

He won rookie of the year and had the 2nd best rookie season for a qb in nfl history.

This thread is what you would call complete stupidity.

Dak was excellent his rookie year, and this season thru the games Zeke played before he was suspened. He struggled then on. Zeke too struggled all year too averaging only 4.1 ypc. So for every thread about Dak struggling, the same threads should point out Zeke's same struggles this season.

Both of them were negatively impacted by the "best offensive line in football" being less than that this year, especially when Ty Smith was out.

Wanna help Dak and Zeke? Get some help for the o-line. Specifically, quality depth. Can't have a significant drop off when one gets injured.

Zeke was bad all year. Even when Tyron played.

No, there is a video where a guy analyzes him this year. You should find it.

He is much better than many knuckleheads believe. He has receivers that would get cut in the Canadian League and wouldn't start on an SEC team.

Ike is the master of stupid threads.

So get used to it.

To answer your question Ike.....

Dak has improved since college. Yes the second half of this season, he showed some of the bad tendencies he had in college.

That being said, last season and the first half of this season, he minimized some of those bad tendencies.

Dak’s mechanics and footwork do get bad at times, which hurts his accuracy. However, he has also had stretches where his mechanics and accuracy have been really good. Particularly last season and the first half of this season.

The key for Dak will be getting more consistent with his mechanics. But lack of consistently when learning and developing skills is something that can happen.

Asking if he is better since college is silly. But he does need to continue developing his consistency.

Dak CAN win a SB in the NFL. But Dallas needs to bring in (FA or trade) a 5+ year Vet with a high football IQ that is ready to be a mentor type back up.

My wish would be to reach out to (I know it’ll NEVER happen) but some former great QB like manning, pay him a boat load to coach Dak for like 2-3 years.

Dak has room for improvement, just like most QBs with his limited experience. The drastic swoon that befell the OL last season also had much to do with Dak's declining performances, along with a more demanding schedule in 2017.

Hopefully, the OL of 2018 might reveal better health for Tyron Smith and some improved development in pass protection from La'el Collins. If not, maybe a return to LG might help to promote improved performance for him. Cooper was yet another that had his problems with pass protection. He must improve in that function or be replaced, imho.

Perhaps a LG and/or OT might be welcomed at some point in the offseason to help stabilize the OT's ongoing performances. For starters, our offensive success will surely be largely dependent upon a vastly improved OL to appear in 2018 -- it's simply an obvious fact. Both Dak and Ezekiel would more than likely appreciate such a happenstance to no end.
