Has Parcells done his job?

Ok, while many of us are aware of what the "Tuna" has done in his 3rd and 4th years with each of his past teams (ESPN's Tom Jackson always knows), could it be that he was brought here by Jerry Jones to not only win a Super Bowl, but to get our franchise back on track? Although his judgement on drafting O-linemen has been bad, what Parcells has done is developed a deep and hopefully talented roster for years to come, along with a head scout (Jeff Ireland) who has a keen eye for talent in both free agency and the draft. I think things are looking up for the 'Boys!! :starspin

I would say that he has done a hell of a job.....We are Young and very talented...especially on Defense. He may not have got us to the playoffs every year....but there is no Question that we have had a more talented and an overally better team on the field each and every year since he became our coach....

I will judge him based on this years performance. I think the past two years have obviously been disapointing. My expectations were higher.

No doubt the talent level has increased substantially, but more important than that is what do you accomplish with said talent?

I have extremely high expectations for this year. A repeat of last year on the OL front will not be an acceptable excuse in my book.

However, this could very well be the year that cements BPs legacy as one of the best coaches to ever grace the NFL.

The pieces are there for BP. Now it is just a matter of getting the job done.

I was going to say that is the most uneducated post of the day...except it is pretty much dead on.

Only thing is I can not give him great job in the personnel department based on the massive failure of our offensive line. Now if we break down personnel matters on defense versus offense then I can see him getting a great on Defense and average on offense to date.

I agree. Expectations are the highest since Bill came here with many in the media picking Dallas to be a top contender this season. I can't say it has to be the SB or nothing given where this team has been for a good while now. I think if this team can make it to the NFC Championship game I would consider this season to be a very successful one.

I agree, but things are looking up, although letting Dwight Smith go would bring his grade from a B- to an F-

this is an understandable summation, but if you look back at last year, he wasn't bad on the field either...just questionably conservative.

the key to the coaching problem has been the depth or lack there of. we were quite successful when healthy, but poor when one or two starters went down. we never had the personel to play at a competitive level. even then, sans the Commander game, Parcells and the coaching staff managed to keep us close. somehow, with our improved depth throughout the lineup, i don't see us dropping games as easily this year.

The impact of Parcells on the Cowboys will be felt LONG after he is gone. The young nucleus of this team is being built to contend for several years.

I just want Parcells to stick around long enough to enjoy a couple of Superbowls for all of his work.

If the Cowboys win it all this year he might be tempted to retire as world champion but I want to see him stay through at least the 2007 season.

Bledsoe is good for at least another 3 seasons so he has his QB. Most of the offense should be intact for that long and the defense is YOUNG!

improved depth and talent at the skill positions, lacking true playmakers at QB, WR and RB for most of BP's tenure here, has handiapped our team, not to mention the DBackfield up until this year

I'm getting tired of the excuse that Parcells hasn't won a playoff game in three years with us. His three years with the Jets produced one playoff win. With New England, after year 3, he had only been to the playoffs once, with two losing seasons. He started slow with the Giants, as well. After this year, if we don't go deep into the playoffs or win the superbowl, call him overrated. Until then, he is on a similar track that he was with his three other teams, all of which he formed into championship caliber units. All I know is that we're young, deep, and stocked with talent for the future, especially on defense.
