Hi there,
First time i've posted on here but after bowing out of this season at the dge of the playoffs I thought i'd write.
Bit of background about me, I'm from the UK but i've been a supported of the Cowboys for 27 yrs now so feel that I've served my time to be able to comment.
So, as the title suggests, Romo, what do people think? Has he got what it takes?
Don't get me wrong, I do like Romo, but I'm increasing thinking, season after season, that he just doesn't quite have............'the right stuff'.
I know this season we've had real problems with injuries on the O line, but that can't be a soul excuse as every team suffers injuries.
Maybe we need to get a better running game, what do u think?

I think Romo needs a better Offensive Coordinator. Oline getting back to health will be nice and of course it will help the running game.

I think a lot of Cowboys fans are coming around to what a lot of Packers fans were feeling in 2004 - 2007 time period with Brett Favre.

Talented QB.

QB that can put up huge numbers.

QB that can make those around him better.

QB that, despite his obvious skills, could pretty much be counted on to play his worst at the most critical moments.

It's hard to walk away from a QB like that. They are so good so much of the time -- so clearly better than the majority of other QBs in the league....

Does anyone else see this Favre parallels?

The problem is this -- does it matter how good the QB is if in your heart of hearts you and everyone else (including the QB) is waiting for the other shoe to drop when the game is on the line -- and it always plays out like that?

I must say, you've started off with a very original thread idea!
:horse:

Sorry man, all in good fun.

:welcome:............

For those who think he folds when the game is on the line, please do some research. He has a crazy good 4th qtr rating and an even better one when he's behind and the game is one the line.
He had several 4th qtr comeback wins this year as well.

He's had some nightmarish collapses, so they tend to stick in our head....so much so we hardly give him credit when he succeeds in crunch time.

welcome to the board. romo can do it but he needs a lot of help. he cannot carry a team himself like other elite qbs.

Thought i saw the horse twitch again so worth bringing up once more, LOL

Turnover Tony fails at the end of every season...I am tired of waiting for him to "get it" or "develop" and be able to win the big game at the end of the season. Every year an excuse...

Time to move on...

No,

I don't think he has what it takes.

He has had the chances, and fails when it matters the most.

Course, He isn't going anywhere. So, he has a few more years to "prove" me wrong.

I hope he does.

The answer is no, assuming you are using "stuff" as a code for "blocking, defense, running game, and coaching".

Its funny.. when his career started everyone talked about how he idolized Favre so much growing up, and now its like he's seriously Favre 2.0.

That kind of QB is close to 1 in 32.

Farve 1.0 won a Superbowl.

Maybe one day Romo will too, then.. i can only hope for all of our sakes.

Favre also cost his teams chances at super bowl wins over the years too with costly INT's at the worst times.

It took Elway a long time to do his thing and when they finally put the right team around him? He won.

We will now have to see what Romo does. Or what Garrett does. Or, what Jerry does.

Hopefully, we don't have to put a team of all star's around Romo for him to get there.. because that is never going to happen.

;)

I think everyone realizes that Romo needs help, as with a better team, but he also needs better coaching himself. Usually when people are divided on an issue, there is usually a bit of truth on both sides of the argument. Romo is labeled a choker but he has had something to do with having that label. He is good enough talent wise to win a Super Bowl but he simply needs better coaching and Garrett doesn't seem to be able to give that..........
