He wore a 50 number and then he was released. The Cowboys signed him back as a fullback and he wore #46.

Two years ago Michael Barrow signed with us and took #48 because all the 50s were taken.

Personally I hope Spencer wears #59. It would be a good omen.
Hoyte was never released.(the Pats would have stolen him) In training camp LBs are allowed to wear 40 numbers because of the lack of available numbers. They have to switch for the regular season, but Hoyte was moved to FB so he kept that number.

My mistake, they did release him and he was signed to the practice squad for the beginning of the season and then we brought him up to the regular roster from there.

And no, Spencer won't be able to wear 49 unless he petitions to wear it, and even then it'll probably be denied by the NFL.

It's officially no. 98. That was his stipulation to Jerry on Saturday. :laugh2:

I swear to you, they never released Hoyte. He was one of the guys we worried about at roster cut time because the rumors were that the Patriots were planning on picking him up to play ILB.

Well he was signed to the practice squad, and to be signed to the practice squad he has to be waived and then clear waivers. Then they're resigned to the practice squad.

Do you have anything showing Hoyte on the practice squad. Because it didn't happen. He made the original 53 and(played STs) and then became the blocking FB. (Your probably thinking of Polite)

The Cowboys are heavy at this spot, and that is after releasing veteran Rocky Boiman, who was supposed to provide some depth at inside and outside spots, along with his special teams play. But Oliver Hoyte performed well covering kickoffs and just continue to progress at linebacker throughout camp. Also, the successful transition Greg Ellis made from defensive end to linebacker was not only a pleasant surprise, but kept players such as Al Singleton and Bobby Carpenter on the second-team unit.
September 11, 2006
Rookie linebacker Bobby Carpenter was inactive for Sunday's game with the Jaguars. The first-round pick from Ohio State (18th overall) made the trip to Jacksonville, but spent the game in street clothes. The Cowboys dressed rookie Oliver Hoyte, an undrafted free agent from North Carolina State, who had impressive on special teams. Other than the four starters, the Cowboys also made backups Ryan Fowler and Kevin Burnett active for the game.

Cowboys head coach Bill Parcells said he hasn't decided whether first-round draft pick Bobby Carpenter will play Sunday against Washington. Carpenter, a rookie from Ohio State, was inactive last week in Jacksonville in favor of rookie Oliver Hoyte, an undrafted linebacker from North Carolina State who has played better than Carpenter on special teams. Parcells said if Carpenter does play this week, he will be a big part of special teams, having to play on four different units.
September 17, 2006
Cowboys head coach Bill Parcells made a switch with his extra linebacker, this time activating first-round draft choice Bobby Carpenter for the first time instead of rookie free-agent linebacker Oliver Hoyte, who played at Jacksonville last week. Carpenter, who played on various special teams cover units, also played in one of the Cowboys' nickel defenses against the Commanders.
November 7, 2006
The Cowboys waived fullback Lousaka Polite, who was re-signed to the team last week and played in Sunday's loss to the Commanders. The Cowboys could always bring back Polite, whom head coach Bill Parcells has called one of the team's smartest and strongest players back in training camp. The club waived Polite on Oct. 20, but signed him last week when converted fullback Oliver Hoyte suffered a minor arm injury. The Cowboys dressed both Hoyte and Polite for the game.
November 15, 2006
The Cowboys have kept Lousaka Polite's phone number handy. Polite is back on the 53-man roster for the second time in the last two weeks. He initially was released when rookie Oliver Hoyte made the transition from linebacker to fullback. "One of the more important things is to have players at this time that know what to do," Parcells said of his decision to bring back Polite. "Breaking in a new back with protections and everything is a difficult thing to do." Parcells said his running back depth is a concern and Polite not only knows the system and the blocking assignments, but has experience at both fullback and running back. The Cowboys had the room on the roster after releasing safety Marcus Coleman over the weekend and placing Greg Ellis on injured reserve.
December 12, 2006
Cowboys fullback Oliver Hoyte missed most of Sunday's game with sprained knee, but said Tuesday he is confident he will be ready for Saturday night's game in Atlanta. The Cowboys used backup fullback Lousaka Polite to replace Hoyte in the offense and on special teams in Sunday's loss to the Saints. Hoyte, who made the team as a rookie free agent this summer, moved from linebacker to fullback early in the season.
December 15, 2006
The Cincinnati Bengals announced Friday that they claimed rookie Skyler Green off waivers from the Cowboys, who released their fourth-round pick Thursday to make room for tight end Andy Thorn on the active roster. Thorn could provide blocking insurance with Oliver Hoyte (knee) banged up heading into Saturday's game. Green has bounced from the Cowboys' practice squad to the active roster since intially getting released at the end of training camp. He appeared in two games for the Cowboys on punt and kickoff returns.

That was a little bit of overkill. Too bad the other fellow still probably won't believe you.
: Yeah, 12 hours and nobody else backed me up. So I finally looked to see if their was any proof on the player tracker page. It didn't take but a few minutes because the player tracker had all the info on two pages
