Interesting couple of Tweets from Nick Harris. Just 6 days ago he asked how would we grade the Cowboys offseason after the Pickens trade:

Most Cowboys responses were positive. But then Nick quote-Tweeted this nugget:

It got me to thinking, we haven't seen the Cowboys aggressive in the offseason in a while. We all laughed at the "Cap Boy" jokes at Stephen's expense. But, if the moves made during the draft, signing of free agents to build depth and stimulate competition, and the trades that were made are any indication of how the Cowboys will be run here on out, are the Cowboys in good hands with...Stephen Jones? :omg:

What say you Zoners? :D

Well you want to find out whether something's changed or not then why don't we wait and see if they let this guy walk for nothing don't get anything but a cup of coffee and a year out of the trade or do they actually pay that man to stay here stay tuned..

But if something is changing also how come Parsons is still not signed why aren't they not getting ahead of Tyler Smith and Deron Bland extensions?

I'm not buying it it's a group effort up there I don't see much has changed they made a trade for Amari Cooper in 2018 they put gave a first round pick for the man they just chose both of them together not to do a whole lot last year it makes this year look like they're doing something different and really they're just doing the same things they've done before last year last year was an anomaly it was absolutely crickets for moves...

But if something's changing with CaPboy well let me see it because I'm seeing a trade but we've made trades before but how about all these other contracts we'll see if George Pickens has a great season and then doesn't get signed here... I mean that's why it's always comical you won't give Jerry any credit for anything anything bad happens it's jerry anything good happens you'll find anybody else to give flowers to some of y'all in the media and the fan base just won't let it go he should get credit for everything good bad or indifferent because that's what's been going on here for years you don't get the backtrack and try to say all that must have been will mcclay or that was one of our coordinators with that pig somebody else must be responsible for George Pickens no Jerry's been involved it will always be involved...

Till he comes out and says he's no longer involved we got to give him credit whether it's good or bad because it would be unfair any other way to try to only give flowers to everyone else..

People will just believe the narrative they want to hear. The Cowboys still cheaped out this year and will continue to do so. Stephen has had a larger and larger role for at least a decade.

Stephen has been in charge for quite sometime now….yes Jerry has and will always hold all the titles but the actual contracts and running the team Stephen has been doing

Jerry didn’t all of a sudden just become cheap he just allows Stephen to be cheap

No other team would hire Cap Boy for any position in their organization. Him taking over isn’t a great thing in my mind.
I said before I’m not even sure he would be hired to run the hot dog stand let alone be the GM of a team

Like seriously if Stephen was fired today who’s hiring him as their GM?

He already is a corporate millionaire. That includes quite a bit of business diversity. I really doubt that he is organizationally ineffective. The preparations and analysis is non-stop and with plenty of experts on all topics.

Cool

You own a NFL franchise and need a GM you hiring Stephen?

Certainly not "good hands". Y'all have to remember the big moves we are all (rightfully) excited about seem so incredible IN THE CONTEXT OF WHAT THIS TEAM NORMALLY DOES. The Pickens trade is just another Tuesday for Howie Roseman and GMs who actually build contending teams year over year. The FO has to be more active in Free Agency for us to even be close to being "in good hands." That said, if Dak doesn't go full deer in headlights and plays up to his contract, I really like the team they've assembled this year. I think we need one great DT, a great swing tackle in case Steele and/or Guyton suck again (ideally find a proven vet RT and make Steele swing tackle, but we know that ain't happening), and perhaps one more bruising, proven RB to complement Blue to be able to realistically contend, assuming we have good coaching and QB play. But it's nice to be able to count the significant needs on one hand this year instead of having to use all my fingers and toes.

I will give some credit in saying that it feels like they have built a decent roster with Dak's contract without being in cap Hell. But they need to actually aggressively use that cap space.

You are making stuff for your own amusements...not a discussion or my words. If I owned a franchise I would be above a millionaire and wouldn't give a damn as to ownership demands. I would handle family matters as well as imput standards just as does Jerry. No Sir, he's not a fool nor is his family.

So that would be a no then?

Oh gosh, a new batch of 20 year olds who have been following the team for 5 minutes think they know something.

I wish I could ask fat Nick (the dweeb that had the nerve to ask Jerry during a press conference about the fans "impatience") how exactly the moves show Stephen is more involved. His BS theory would quickly fall apart.

This is a such a tired subject. Stephen is nothing more than Jerry's secretary and that is proven every time there is a war room video. He makes no decisions. He decides nothing. He works the phone and reports to his father. The real decision maker.
