Twitter: Has Stephen Jones Taken Over For Jerry?

No other team would hire Cap Boy for any position in their organization. Him taking over isn’t a great thing in my mind.

It's not a great thing in any of our minds.

That said the post is speculating the change this offseason is because he became more involved.

If this is what his involvement means then it would appear he was being governed by Jerry. Which would lead me towards the direction of hope.

Jerry rules this team with an iron fist.
Stephen is still Jerry's lackey.
Charlotte Jones is our only hope.

I think the biggest influence in player drafting and free agent acquisition this year may be Schottenheimer and the quality coaching staff he assembled. Credit this dysfunctional ownership and upper management in making some rare, sound decisions such as retaining Schottenheimer and promoting him to head coach.

Interesting couple of Tweets from Nick Harris. Just 6 days ago he asked how would we grade the Cowboys offseason after the Pickens trade:

Most Cowboys responses were positive. But then Nick quote-Tweeted this nugget:

It got me to thinking, we haven't seen the Cowboys aggressive in the offseason in a while. We all laughed at the "Cap Boy" jokes at Stephen's expense. But, if the moves made during the draft, signing of free agents to build depth and stimulate competition, and the trades that were made are any indication of how the Cowboys will be run here on out, are the Cowboys in good hands with...Stephen Jones? :omg:

What say you Zoners? :D

I wouldn't put much stock into any of the moves - they have a new HC who is in the honeymoon phase. Schotty is probably asking for a few things this year and the F.O. is willing to let him have it. Next year could end up being totally different.

one year rental prove me wrong

He already is a corporate millionaire. That includes quite a bit of business diversity. I really doubt that he is organizationally ineffective. The preparations and analysis is non-stop and with plenty of experts on all topics.
This is funny. This is the first year I can remember that Jerry and Stephen didn't disappear on their obnoxious boat for the entire free agency period. And now they are suddenly serious about "preparations and analysis is non-stop and with plenty of experts on all topics" ? I'm calling BS on that........

They got literally roasted last year and are merely going through the motions now to convince a few sheep that they give a damn. We all know they don't.

I have some questions for you. If you’re 100% out on the coach before he even has a chance, 100% out on the draft, 100% out on the QB, 100% out on a defense lead by MP, Diggs, and Bland, and 100000% out on the organization because the guys who own the business want you to run it the way they want to run it, why do you call yourself a Cowboy? Do you even want them to succeed? You seem to be the opps more than fans of other teams. I don’t get it.

You’ve admitted to me that your a fan with only your time, not your wallet. So in all honesty you have nothing to reasonably complain about, yet thats all you do. You’re more of a Cowboy news watcher, not really a Cowboy! Yet you call yourself one. Its Weird…

Last question, do you hold the Mountaineers to the same standard? Hopefully you at least gave them some money for math classes, or fly fishing tutorials, or psych 101. Maybe you at least pay for tickets to watch their games? But have they ever won a championship?

Im just trying to get a better understanding of who you are, or what a MountaineerCowboy is?
I ain’t reading all that.

It looks like a good hire so far.
I agree, yes there’s risk to it but there’s also a fresh air and sometimes people do better at certain roles - just bc he struggled at times as a coordinator doesn’t mean he’s going to have the same issues as a hc.

I like how this team is being assembled and there is some really good positivity surrounding this offseason which gives us all something to be excited for come regular season.

I still personally think it’s going to be a down year with a tough start but a strong finish, but at least it will be a young hungry team with a push for a cultural change.

Sure, Jerry "Jocks to Socks" Jones has ceded power to Stephen.

Because egomaniacs are notorious for voluntarily giving up power.

Nothing outside of the trade for Pickens was outside of their usual standard operating procedure, and that was probably a Jerry move. Just like the trade for Cooper back in 2018.

This current team building philosophy started around 2013, and I believe it was Stephen that implemented it with Jerry's consent. Because Jerry was totally the opposite before then. The reason I say this is because Stephen has already said he would take less risk when Jerry is gone.

The Cowboys went from trying to acquire all of the best players in FA and through trade, to building through the draft. I think that's Stephen.

A lot of motion doesn't mean more productivity. We can grade Stephen's performance at the end of the season when we count up wins and losses.

We are supposed to believe that the ego-maniac that is Jerry Jones, is letting someone else make the decisions? Someone else that would get the “credit” if we did miraculously win a SB? Lol

Pickens had Jerry written all over him. That was the splash move he has been needing since the criticism broke last year. The rest of the offseason moves? Sure, whomever you want to credit. Personally I'm thinking it was more the coaches and scouts. Does anyone actually think Jerry or Stephen knew any of our offseason pickups other than Fowler and I guess the RBs? Come now. They couldn't pick those LBers or Robert Jones out of a lineup if you let them wear their jerseys...
