Has the defense passed the offense as a liability?

You know they said Parsons injured his groin against the Rams. I wonder if he has a sports hernia. I remember 20 years ago McNabb said he had an injured groin but it ended up being a sports hernia. Parsons hasn't been himself lately and I wonder if there is a bigger injury issue we don't know about.

But to answer the original question. I feel on any given day the offense can look great and unstoppable and then lay an egg. Same with the defense. We have the most Bipolar team in the NFL.
Which is what you get when a 240 lb dude is handfighting w/ 320 lb dudes.

People literally complain about lve all the time lol
I'm sorry......It's "watered down" in comparison to when/if Jaylon Smith was on the playing field. LVE has big cushion about his play. He is a glaring reason RBs gash us.

Which unit is worse?

The offense is mostly a joke, whether we blame the OC - Dak - WR communication - RB dilemma that’s not really a dilemma because Pollard should have the tilt in carries - Ridiculous presnap penalties that shouldn’t be happening or holding calls …

On the flip side the defense went from obvious strength to a sincere worry. At this rate, this defense is about to give up 1000 yards rushing over the course of 5 games. IMO it seems since Philly, Parsons just hasn’t made a consistent impact. I’m not pointing the finger at him, I’m guessing - maybe it’s others not staying on script? Has the shine on Quinn finally come off?

Its the Offense.

Whilst the Defense are PASS - RUSH Happy and im sure Quinn will have to show we can defend the run. The Offense though is killed by KM playing a game that doesnt suit his Offense. EVERY Cowboys fan can see the problems occur when we move away from the run game (eg 4thQ v GB).

Dak/Receiver's are uncomfortable throwing between the hashes on a slant......SO STOP CALLING IT, it's as if KM has to prove that the play works.

Dak is an very good (even excellent) short yardage general, however, if he's uncomfortable he's dreadful with a risk filled throw in coverage in the hashes.....so play to his strengths.

Sorry, i'm on one today,.

Sort of. Due to his knee, Jaylon, had to pre-empt and gamble on the play, if he failed he just physically couldnt readjust. As for LVE he appears to frequently take the wrong gap, but as with Micah ,and pointed out by @kskboys, it's difficult when O-Line men block at the second level.

Then again, this all starts as we play Nickel and have Diggs at CB, any OC can start a running game by scheming the Nickel back off the line and then realize that our Right Edge with Diggs and whomever is playing RDE cannot seal the edge. The line is compromised helping the edge and the O-Line gets to hinder LB.

Was interested in the opinion that Micah, when 'calling out' players and their gap coverage was actually calling out FOWLER.

No, the offense put too much on the defense by not running the ball enough on their end while the defense defended the run all game.

So when it came down to the 4th quarter, the defense was tired and got split.
Nope.

The problem is definitely Dan Quinn's supposed run-stop attempting calls/stunts. His calls are actually opening up gorges wide open for opposing RBs to run for big gains over and over.

I will give Quinn the benefit of the doubt for now. Huge test with Dalvin Cook coming up. Will the defense respond to being called out and play with more pride and grit vs the run?

MM saying that rushing the passer is a privilege is a soft callout pointing at guys who are focusing on sacks at the expense of the dirty work that needs to be done.

Very sloppy at this point. I could see them bouncing back on Sunday though. The fact that they were as pissed as they were after being embarrassed is a positive sign

Wondering the same things. Odd that when the offense shows some life and being capable of scoring TDs that now the defense goes from allowing 14 points a game to 30. There seems to be many liabilities

Yikes that’s so bad, Fowler is a good player but mental dummy

Yep, looks like he went Pass Rush Happy on a 2nd/5.Broaddus was saying it looked like a switch....but even if Fowler did switch inside, do we prefer a 261LB Fowler or 360lb Bohanna blocking the middle, personally I'd prefer the bulk to hinder the run direction and helping stop the Center getting to block Micah....especially as Fowler isnt known to be a top tackler.

Interestingly, Fowler is playing on all three snaps...the 1st he misses the switch, 2nd he's late on filling his gap and the third which could attributed to LVE who had two gaps and chose the wrong gap as he edged towards Fowlers gap.

If, as was mentioned, Micah's outburst about gaps was directed to Fowler it could appear that the LB's are covering Fowler's weakness against the run.

Do we know the DT's on plays 2 and 3?

I think this shows how quickly fans will turn on the defense and Quinn.

True. But a lot of it was an overreaction to an incomplete picture of the defense after a 1/3 of the season. Not criticizing because thats what fans normally do. The longer the season wears on, I think we're going see things settle into basically what we were left with last season.

The real issue is can the defense be fixed with current personnel. Surely, after giving up 240 yards rushing to the Bears, Quinn would have made some adjustments in the bye week. Yet, GB still went over 200 yards rushing. So, can it be fixed ? Bohanna looks like pure trash in the middle and does not play like a man his size. He got turned every which way vs GB.

They came out flat. Teams have figured out to go towards Parsons. Pass plays drop it over his head short. We are seeing him have to stop and chase people down. Which should be angering Quinn. Team mates are letting him be a one man team and tackling people flushed towards them but are missing tackles and now they are running plays at him. Parsons gets held more than any player I have seen in a long time. And no calls.

If I am Quinn I put corners on a island for a while. Bring jail breaks and go after rbs and qb. Hold the edges. We first had problems holding the edge and they ran outside. Now they are right down our throats and breaking outside. Would rather let a occasional edge run slip by then what I saw a rookie do us Sunday. And the rpo rogers ran with the toss fooling us was gross. How many times did we bite on that. We know rogers ain’t running it.

We were flat and like they expected them to run into there waiting arms. Team was depending on Parsons to do everything. Teams have film now on how to run against him. When he comes they adjust and drop a little pass over his head. Quinn should have had secondary playing man coverage. We need to stack the box. Jail break on passing plays.

If the plan for the offense is to be pass happy, time of possession will be shorter and the defense will be on the field longer. I do not expect the defense to hold up when they are gassed. This defense was close to the bottom of the league prior to quinn/parsons/diggs. Just run the ball and you solve alot of these issues.

Why have your D-Line stacked up so that a 300 pound olineman can get straight to a LB. We need to stack the box and get up field. We have the players to get to the qb. Put the corners in man coverage.

Especially when you overrate them.

I think this is a very good defense in terms of passing defense. Have said from the get go that stopping the run must improve; For the most part the run defense has not hurt us in terms of winning games but now after the GB game where they consistently ran and won, we will see if this team adjust. I agree with Quinn we have the players but these guys must change the mindset of rushing passer to getting down in the trenches and holding ground.

You actually have made my point regarding LVE, in comparison to the Jaylon heat on this board.

As for Micah.....he, like any other player.....should be careful with quotes outside the lockerroom.....that should stay in the lockerroom only.

I seriously doubt that this is true and if it is, it's only because he might be healthier.

He has 31 tackles and 1 TFL for the season, no forced fumbles, passes defensed, sacks or picks. He seems to be doing the same thing there that he did here at the end.

The just picked him up a few games ago. He has not played the entire season.
