Has your mind changed?

Constantly.

Started off liking Ridley then became enamored with Moore.
Thought Edmunds was too slow figured out he was really never asked to run long.
Thought Billy Price was the second best interior OL prospect then moved to Hernandez then to Daniels.
I have been back and forth on Evans more times than I can count. Still don't trust him.
Thought LVE could not take on blocks then saw his progression over the season and what he was asked to do.
Thought Hurst was too light and then came around.
Thought that there was no depth to S and came around.

I'm trying to convince myself Vander Esch is okay at 19.

I've been watching his highlights, but there ain't enough to give an accurate impression. Yes, he looks the part and he shows a high ceiling. At the same time, his lack of highlights shows his floor could be low.

The Moorites in the forum have converted me enough that I would accept it better now if we took him than I would've a month ago.
I still like Ridely, btw.
I'd rather, of course, get lucky and land a stud defender at 19. Then take advantage of all the 2nd or 3rd round WR talent later.

I've consistently wanted LB or DL at 19, but I'm not loving who I think will be available. Really hope they don't take a WR at 19. Vander Esch scares me- wish there was a larger body of work against quality opponents.

If the draft unfolds the way I think it will, wouldn't mind dropping a few spots to pick up another 3rd. FWIW, Mike Mayocks just released mock shows the following players available if we drop down 5 spots in the first round:

Calvin Ridley
Rashaan Evans
Taven Bryan
DJ Moore
Will Hernandez

How does one of those AND a third rounder sound?

I've talked myself into different positions and personal over and over.
If Vea was there I'd be very happy.
I dont think LVE is a bad pick
I'd rather go WR later
I just want the draft to start
Then we hit the doldrums

It’s changed heaps.

September: I was looking for a RoMac replacement and came across Edmunds. I thought he was exactly what we needed. Derwin’s stock was dropping with Florida looking bad and I thought he might be a possibility.

December: I spotted DJ Moore, Wynn, Hernandez, Ragnow and Payne as second round target. Ridley was my guy in the 1st.

January: Seniorbowl had me looking at 2nd round OG’s. Wynn and Hernandez impressed, think there were a couple that disappointed that I’d liked previously. Wynn jumped to my no.1 choice at pick 19 though. Griffen and Gallup were 3rd round guys now on my radar.

Discovered Wynn surgery and soured, we didn’t re-sign Hitchens so LB was no.1 target, hated LVE’s tape, latched on to Evans with Edmunds and James out of reach, D.James was back to a pipe dream.

March: Dez cut and suddenly Ridley was too much a Z. Wynn injured, Edmunds and James out of reach has me looking at Vea, Daniels, Evans and Moore as my top 4 choices.

That’s where I’m at:
1. Vea
2. Daniels
3. Evans
4. Moore

Wanted LVE then decided Evans was ok although still prefer LVE. So good with both of them. Then they cut Dez. Now WR is in the mix although, for me, R2 is the best place for Dallas to shop for a WR. That makes Moore the most likely pick R1 for a WR although Ridley is in play as well. I'm ok with any of those R1 although I prefer LVE. And again I will be jumping (big deal right now for me) up and down if L Jackson falls to 19. NE will call and make a reasonable deal. And we can still get Evans or LVE.......I think.

If you find a way please let me know your method.
Exactly, I'm trying to figure out a way to keep from vomiting if LVE is the pick at 19

On a side note, how great would it have been to lose that meaningless last game to philly and be choosing 16 instead

My mind hasn't really changed since March, to be honest. I've found that in the past, a lot of the evaluations I screw up is when allow myself to get talked into or out of prospects once I've already watched them. So generally, I just move on and keep watching tape on other guys, rather than re-evaluate tape I've already seen.

The one guy I am kind of talking myself into though is Courtland Sutton. I watched his tape and pretty much hated it - he's a one-speed loper in a small school spread offense. Dude only runs like two routes and just boxes out 5'9" DBs for catches, woo hoo, that's really going to translate well. But the Combine he put up was disgusting, and the more I think about it, the more I think he might have some potential as an underneath receiver that wasn't used in their vertical-heavy offense. Combine that with his jump-ball chops, and yeah, I am really starting to see the upside. Got to watch that SMU tape again... remember, Sutton sucks, Sutton sucks, Sutton sucks....

Not gonna lie, I really wanted Christian Wilkins as our first round pick this year when the season was over.... Sadly that man beast decided another season with Clemson was in order.... Rather he hoped to go top 5 and was concerned it wasn't happening or really wanted a degree, either way he decided to stay in school another year.

What screws me is if both him and Vea would have came out, it would have had a true talent at 1T or 3T falling to us given they could both play almost any position on the front four..... While it seems crazy Vea could ever be a DE, they had him learning and doing all positions. While he would not be the DE anyone would covet, he understood the role and used that to his dominance at his side of the front four..... Understanding and playing the role in practice made him better at his position rather it was the 1T or the 3T in a play.... Personally I think Wilkins would excel at almost any position with his size and speed.

With our cap space coming up in 2019 and good drafting as of late (minus 2nd round), would not mind seeing a small trade down in round one and patch working most of our line if Vea is not there. There is still Wilkins next year which I feel is even better.

Until then I still want to build on the trenches at round 1...... Sad part is if we did get the real deal 1T or 3T to team with the other rather this year or next, the mike does not need to be some thumper but a coverage LB like the mold of Lee and possibly Smith if his knee is right and he returns to form. The LB position is fluid until we decide the line we are forming in the front four. The crazy part is the front four positions are some what fluid until you decide the LB's we want to carry. Making a decision either way should provide the framework for the rest of the front 7 in defense. Rather we try to patchwork it this year and do a 2 year system to fill it, or reach with athletes like LVE in hopes we fix all that ails us this year, we should be fine if we game plan accordingly....... Personally I would go for Vea. If he not there, and Payne is not an option, then you have to decide is Evans or LVE is the mold of LB you want. If it is then we are fine and will go for a person like Wilkins in next years draft. If not I would look for an OT to be the starting RT or have the mental to play LG which should be even easier. First round OT's are Left Tackles anyways..... Moving to LG should be a breeze......

Vea or
one of the top 10 non qb or rb that slide to 15 where they can move up with a 3rd
or move back in the 20s for one of the 2 linebackers and pick up a 3rd

Like everyone I would like Vea, but I can't see hiim get passed the likes of Miami or Washington, one of the top OG would be good, boring to some but safe, but I think there will be a run on OG, I could even see the Giants taking Nelson at #2 if they don't get lot of picks for that #2.

So it will come down to WR one of DJ (Moore or Ridley),or LB (LVE) but as an outside bet, I would be happy trading back into the 20's (Panthers could do with a WR Titans for an edge or the Vikings for an OL) for an extra 3rd and we take Da'Ron Payne or Sutton

BPA in any order:

1-Tech/3 (Prefer 1)
LB
FS
WR
G/OT
DE
TE (Grudgingly, prefer later round)
RB (Later rounds)

These are all the positions we need to upgrade early or add depth to in later rounds...

I've been really high on Hurst and Vea throughout the entire process. Hurst has been the big change as we don't really know what's going on with the medicals.

I haven't gotten to follow it closely enough to have an opinion on who I want.

I look at Sutton like a lot of people look at LVE. He' tall with good hands and wingspan can't runs routes and doesn't get much separation. It almost sounds like Escobar or at the very least Mike Williams from USC that Matt Millen picked in the first round for the Lions. I guess if he was there in second he would be OK but I could easily see him not making it in the NFL.

I'm trying to convince myself Vander Esch is okay at 19.
Two players others Love I’ve had trouble getting on board with
LVE
Payne
I get the upside of LVE but the risk seems high for 1st rnd
Payne had a great game but his overall play wasn’t that impressive and I watch SEC football every week
