Sounds pretty cut and dry.
There's a very unique duality we're living with right now within the structure of the NFL. On one hand there's the uncertainty of the CBA, or lack thereof, and the specter of a cancelled season. Cynicism and pessimism run rampant.
On the other, there are 500 free agents out there. Five hundred. Not quite twice as many players that will enter the NFL via the draft. Once the CBA gets hammered out, the signings will fly as fast as the ink can be fed to the paper. Even adding one or two good free agents can give a team's fan base unmitigated optimism for the upcoming season, and there are available 15 players per team if they all get signed and spread out evenly.
The optimism for a team coming into the 2011 season that has had an active roll in the FA market will know no bounds.
Doom and gloom will be replaced by legitimate optimism across the league. Exciting times, once we get there.
