I keep playing out a nightmare senario and just have to share it.

4 seconds remaining in the NFC Championship Game. Romo has just completed a fast and furious legend building 50 yard dive in less than a minute. We have the ball on the Bears 23 yard line. We are down by 2 points and trot out Vandy for a very makable 40 yard field goal. Here's the million dollar question.
HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT THAT? DOES HE MAKE IT?
Its one thing to line up for a game winning field goal when your tied and are facing OT with a miss. It's clearly another when the game comes down to you. You have to make it. No second chances. Win or lose is all on your foot with a Superbowl trip hanging in the balance. I can't see him making it. And I'm an opptimist at heart.
If the trading deadline had not passed, who wouldn't send Vandy and next years 2nd to Arizona for Rackers.

We would go for it. No kicks. Romo, naked bootleg, breaks 3 tackels and complete hurdles the safety at the goal line. Game over. Bring on the AFC.

Do you mean the same Rackers that is 0-3 in game winning fg's this year?

I know Vandy has hit a rough patch, but he is still STATISTICALLY the best field goal kicker in the history of the NFL. I still believe that he will make 85%+ of his attempts over his career. Call me crazy, but I think he makes the kick. JMHO

with the problems he's had, no way he makes that kick under such pressure.

I'm not so sure. I think his problem is in his head. I'd rather him line up for a 55 yarder were a miss is acceptable. A 40 yarder he's suppose to make is what scares me.

Here's a good question. Same situation. Would you rather have Vandy line up for 40 yarder or Viniteri line up for a 55 yarder?

LOL.....

I'd rather line him up and put him out of my misery. I tell ya, the best way is just to not ever let it get to that point. I'm from the Larry Allen school of thought on those deals. Don't ever put it in the hands of the kicker!

:D

I really think anything under 50 in that situation will be a cinch for him. Can't tell you why I feel that way, but there it is.

Which hash mark is the kick from? Right hash = no good, wide right. Middle or left hash and he's got a shot.

You're right Rackers hasn't had a good year. Bad choice. But you know what thier had to be non contending team with a real solid kicker who would have taken Vandy in a trade.
He doesn't make that kick!

If you look at his extra points and the 22 yarder he made on Thanksgiving he is still pushing everything to the right. The mechanics look the same so until they change I am not confident.
