Have the Cowboys said if McGovern will be re-inserted as starter when he is healthy? That will be an interesting thing to watch, between him and Peters.

LG is unknown with regards to who will play the position in the next game.

Farniok has been better than McGovern was in his 4 starts in 2021, but that's not a high bar of achievement.

McGovern only played 8 snaps in game 1 which is not enough to evaluate him.

Peters played 2 series in the Giants game.

They've have practice squad player Lindstrom active for games. He would have been the top backup OC.
- McGovern likely takes the place of Lindstrom because McGovern did play some at OC in the preseason.

If Peters in not going to start, then it's McGovern vs Farniok at LG.
- I would stay with Farniok at this point over McGovern coming off the injury.

McGovern looked improved in TC and that initial series before he got hurt. Him being healthy is great as he can backup several spots and man the H back role.

Can you imagine him lead blocking to the left following Smith and Peters? Lol… our RBs will have oceans of green grass in front of them

Why can't Peter's hold up physically?

Don't know why people here think 40 year man should be a disability or old. If he is a man who has been playing football for a living all his life, not like he is your 40 year old father .? He has been playing still at a high level recently. Better than some twenty somethings. Gimme a break.

The sad part about Conner is he is a right side player, when he filled in for Zach a few games he did very good, but since Zach is there, they got him out of position and it shows, imo

I think I would probably go with Farniok over McGovern if that was the choice. Id prefer Peters though. I think he is the best player, and I like the idea of him playing next to Smith. He doesnt have a ton of OG experience, but he has played there some. Plus after playing LT since before the Spin Doctors were cool, Im sure LG wouldn't be tough to figure out

I think its a no brainer.....perfect for this FO brass. McG is not exactly Larry Allen out there, and if Peters is in football shape, then let him get in there. McG can serve as backup, and in the jumbo package if they bring that back. Case cerrado.

Peters is light years better than McGovern. In blowouts, maybe we see McGovern.

I expect Peters to play even if he does not start.

It would be funny if all 3 played snaps at LG...

Don't be surprised a 3 man rotation. Farniok, Peters, McGovern. o_O

They could line up McGovern as T eligible. Then motion him into the backfield as a FB. Or put him in at FB and motion him to TE. :muttley:
Either way, extra blocker.
I hope it's not a rotation, continuity is very important on the OL. Peters should take that job, fulltime once he gets in game shape.

If McGovern made it well through this week’s practices, I feel certain he will be the starter at LG. I think they value Peters as the primary backup at all line positions except center. It will take more than 7 snaps in one game to consider Peters sufficiently ramped up.

Someone will sign him, move him to RG, and get a solid starter.
