Uumm... he kinda did. Jenkins never again got the respect from players or fans that he was building up to that point. The "business decision" has haunted him since that day.

That was Derrick Ward that he dodged. Not Jacobs.

didnt Tiki have similar problems? Wilson has the ability and its not like he is coughing it up again on contact.

Yes he did, and so did Bradshaw. Both overcame the problem and became good RBs.

With David Wilson finishing his game Sunday on the bench for the second year in a row I wonder if there's a bonus that came along with the ball being stripped out of his hands. In both preseasons Wilson has played in he has looked explosive but when he get's held up he seems to have a glaring weakness, literally, his arms can't hold on to the ball when challenged. Is it possible that the Cowboys have ruined their division rivals 2012 first round pick or has the Ginats unknowingly picked a double agent who's soul purpose was to help the Cowboys win the season opener 2 years in a row?

The Cowboyd are more liable to ruin their own season not David WIlsons career.

Oh my..one win..and we are suddenly career-ending terrors?

Look, it is just one game and the dud had a bad game.

Hey..as fans, we have to at least act like we have been here before..right?

uugh! Even worse... :D

Tell me about it. It's a big common misconception that it was Jacobs (even Giants fans remember it that way), but it was Derrick Ward who scared Jenkins away. But in all fairness to Ward himself, he was a pretty stout guy. Played around 230 at under 6 foot.

BS. If this were a Cowboy player there would be a hundred threads asking why the Cowboys drafted a guy that had problems with fumbling in college and he woulda been declared a bust Monday morning after starting out his first TWO seasons the exact same way. But suddenly everyone has patience for the Giants first round pick to pan out. LOL Your prolly just mad cause this wasn't a thread bashing one of the Cowboys 1st rd. picks.

Nope.

Coughlin has already said that he's not giving up on Wilson, and he shouldn't. Yes, he has a fumbling issue (my first thought when he fumbled Sunday night was the few fans here who questioned his deserved fumble prone label), but he's also an explosive runner, and fumbling problems can be corrected. The Giants have gone through this before, more than once, and each time they've fixed the problem, but not by giving up on the player.

Wilson will be fine, and he'll be back.

I see his explosiveness too but his problems are a little deeper than just holding the ball. He has problems getting held up in traffic which leads to his getting robbed. I aint sayin he cant get it fixed but it's possible that he's been exposed and even the most optimistic Giant fan must admit 2 years in a row of the same thing could get into his head?

Yeah, a hundred threads from the knee jerk crowd. No doubt about that. If Wilson was a Cowboy, I'd be saying the same thing. Give him time to correct the problem because his skill set is well worth the growing pains.

I don't think we've seen enough of Wilson to make that determination. Yes, he got stuffed against our defense, but from what little I've seen of him, that's not a pattern. He's played in, basically, a half dozen games in his pro career. He was great at VT except for the fumbling problem, and he brought that problem with him to the NFL. Really, I think that's the only thing holding him back. It's a serious problem, but one that can be corrected.

I started Wilson as well on one of my teams...it didn't get me beat, though, since I also had Demarius Thomas and Jason Witten.

I guess it makes sense we're more critical of our own. Overreactions abound though.

As to the OP: I don't know if we've "ruined" Wilson but it'd be nice to be in his head. Seems like ages since we've had a hoodoo over any team so I'll start with a rivals #1 back.

He was ranked as the 3rd-4th best back in the draft last year but he didn't get picked till the Giants 32nd pick because he had the same problems in college. 8 fumbles his junior year. The guy is a track runner not a running back and he will ALWAYS have a problem in traffic that's why he lasted so long in the draft. I've read some of his scouting reports on line and he's doing exactly what the scouts said he would. It was a gamble to pick him and an even bigger gamble to pick him so high in the draft.

Exactly. In his head was really all I meant but the guy is in his second year and doing the same things he did in college. He has great speed so everyone wants to "fix" him LOL Maybe they can but I doubt it. I don't really think the Cowboys ruined him he was deeply flawed before he got to the NFL but I'm just tryna enjoy hoodooing someone else for a change.

So, 1,700 rushing yards, 6 yards per carry, and 10 total TDs in his first full year at VT is what you'd call deeply flawed? His only real flaw is fumbling, and it's been proven that that can be fixed. But whatever....

Yes I guess your right just because a guy had fumbling problems in college and he's still doing it in his second year in the pros doesn't mean anything. It will probably get fixed and he'll be a great RB. I hope you become a scout for the Eagles.
