We all know how fun it was to humiliate the Cardinals for all those years, but now that they're gone, who is the new NFC East "Whipping boy"

I'd have to say the Commanders.

Since 2001 the division records look like this

Giants 13 - 11
Cowboys 10-14
Skins 8-16
Philly......I didn't even look as I know they beat everyone.

Now we're not far behind them, no doubt about it, but look what happens if I take last year out of the equation

Cowboys 7-11
Skins 3-15

WOW..........the rest of the NFC has OWNED the skins. 3 wins in your division in 4 years????

Maybe I shouldn't of compared them to Arizona............its not fair to Arizona.

Anyway, I just thought it was interesting. Feel free to discuss how pathetic the Skins organization has been over the last 5 years...........

I'm going to say I agree just to piss off all the Commanders trolls we have here.

They have a similar record as Dallas and they went to the playoffs last year and won a game while the Cowboys stayed home. I don't like the Commanders but maybe the Cowboys should actually try winning a playoff game before we call them a laughingstock.

Perhaps we should not be so glib - Skins actually made the playoffs and did something we have not done in about 10 years. They actually won a playoff game.

They are arguably a better team this year with key additions at WR. If Andre Carter regains his form as a pass rusher, they could be very, very dangerous.

I also look for the Eagles to rebound - the defense should be very strong this year with the addition of Bunkley and Darren Howard shoring up their weakness on DL.

I have to agree, Joe Gibbs has a playoff win in his return while Big Bill is still searching for his as a Cowboy Coach. I hate the Deadskins but they went further in the playoffs than any team in the Division last year.

Unfortunately, the NFC east doesn't have a whipping boy. It would be nice though to have an automatic 2 wins every season again, but every NFCE game is a potential loss now and you have to be on top of your game to get a win. With the way free agency has taken over, I doubt we will ever see "whipping boy" teams again because a team can go 2-14 one year and then 9-7 the next, or vice versa, though the Cardinals have managed to consistently suck over the years, but I think they are turning the corner now.

Agreed.

And they whipped us when we had to win to get into the playoffs.

The worst thing that could have happened to the division is the return of Joe Gibbs.

Gibbs knows how to build a team sans the draft better than any coach in the league.

And he's a better game strategist than Parcells.

I wouldn't start laughing just yet.

Dude, whats with your simlies on every post of yours? Are you easily amused? Just my Pet peeve I guess, but when I see a smiling smilie, I usually think something funny is being posted.

They probably ought to ban you from using smilies, IMO :)

I agree. Let's worry about making our own bed before criticizing someone else's.

Skins beat us twice and made it into the divisional playoffs.

We haven't won a playoff game in 9 years.

Misery loves company.

That would be the 1998 season playoffs when they beat us. Prior to that they hadn't won a playoff game since 1947!

They made the playoffs in 1948, 1974, 1975, and 1982 (a strike year when only a few teams were excluded from the playoffs) but lost in the first round each time.

Taken as a whole, they are one of the least successful teams in history with only the Saints and Texans ranking below them.

I sugest that it was sooner than Dallas has. As a matetr of fact, their last play-off win came against the Cowboys.

NFC Wild Card Playoff Jan. 2, 1999 At Dallas 20–7 to be exact.

Dallas' last play-off WIN - 1996 Divisional Wild Card Game vs Minnesota Vikings...Dallas 40, Vikings 15.

This means we have been the least successful in the offseason from that point. The Giants and Eagles both went to the SB since then.

Its 10-14 for the Commanders, not 8-16 since 2001. Add up the numbers right lol.

Wow...talk about making a statement last year. 5 division wins after only 5 in the previous 4 years.

Looks like we'll have to do it again in 2006...or at least go 4-2, to truly make believers out of people.
