HBO Ballers

Finally got cable on, UVerse won the race :(
Will say that they are a lot better here in LA than in Houston.

Anyways, just watched Ballers and I liked it. Sports, skin and guest cameos make it worthwhile :)
Also, anything with Rob Corddry in it is a must see for me........

Brink came on right after, so caught that one too. Liked it as well. Now on to True Detective!
 
Finally watched the 1st episode and liked it. Will keep watching to see how it develops.
 
Two episodes in and Ballers doesn't seem like it has much depth...but it's pretty fun to watch I suppose.
 
I thought Ballers was going to be really good, but was disappointed in it. Mostly because the acting was so bad in spots, but also probably because my wife sat there saying how stupid it was the whole time it was on, so I kept waiting for the show to bail me out, and it never did.

My wife did the same thing. She watched the first episode and said I had to pay her to make her watch again. So now I will watch it on demand.

Me, too. It'll free us up to watch episodes of Married at First Sight or Vampire Diaries or whatever horrors she cooks up for us between now and then.

At least she likes Game of Thrones. :)

After 20 years in, every drip of disapproval is just another mind-numbing nail in the forehead in the Chinese water torture that is the existence of any happily married man. Just kidding. Not really.

Actually, it's more that I was already on the fence because the acting was corny and the barrage of 'this is stupid' convinced me. It was right at the intersection of 'this is not a show you would enjoy' and 'this might not be a show I would enjoy.' I'll give it some time, because Johnson's good in roles where he's not wearing fairy wings and I know they've got some good material to work with if they ever find their stride. But it's got a ways to go in my book.

I'll sign up on 'Unhappy wife, Unhappy life,' anyway. It sure seems like my wife is happy and I"m miserable an awful lot of the time, though. Not with her, of course. She's an angel when she's not ruining HBO shows and making me watch Vampire Diaries or whatever.

I fake it fairly well. She's happy watching Vampire Diaries, for example, while I'm sitting there imagining ways to hurt myself. But if she catches my eye during a commercial or whatever, I just say 'did you do something to your bangs, because it's making you look younger for some reason" and that usually works. If I'm in a real bind, I'll say 'how come you look so much skinnier than all your friends? That's weird. i bet they hate that." That works just a bout 100% of the time.

Worst case scenario, I can always go with 'Can I get you some more ice cream?"

I don't even have to mean it most of the time. I mean, she looks old or whatever. She doesn't even have bangs. Or she's put on weight, and then I'm offering to get her ice cream. But I just say it, and I get out of whatever hole I was in, so I say it anyway.

I hear myself doing it and just die a lit bit inside each time, but what are you going to do? The Vampire Diaries are on in the background and I want to kill myself, but I don't.

Don't tell your wife I said that. Tell her I said she looks younger than her friends, though. That'll work. She'll be impressed by how nice Cowboys fans are.

My thoughts exactly, and I tuned in and found it not very entertaining.

Hooked on House of Cards, and The Brink has possibilities.

Was a big fan of Dexter, Six Feet Under, The Sopranos, Magic City, and Boardwalk Empire.

Waiting impatiently for the next season of Banshee.

And my wife likes them also.

I am still trying to figure out, what I am watching. It is not good, it is not bad, I just don't know.
