More needs to be done to fix this run-defense. Hopefully Dumb & Dumber recognizes its still an issue and Hankins alone wont solve it..
yeah but today was not so much the half backs but the half backs in context with a running qb, our defenders didnt seem to know where to go today. Great play calling by Chicago, they outcoached us

I'm not concerned, look the Bears are good at running the ball give them credit. The Cowboys fought and did what they needed to do.

Hankins made some plays and is a move made in the right direction. I think Hank is a good NT, and their just a MLB away from doing better vs the run. Keep in mind the best MLB they can find is playing OLB right now. Moving Parsons to the middle on run downs and playing him outside on 3rd downs might be the move DQ needs to make post bye.

They were playing pass defense and getting gashed up because most smart teams would have ran the ball in those situations.

We were letting them run, because we had a comfortable lead.

Some of you are overstating the run defense issue, and making it out to be worse than it really is.

This is easier to understand when you understand situational schemes and pass defenses versus run.

They were gaining yards, much of the time, because we were in pass defense. Then they'd try to get us to come out of pass defense and play the run, so they could throw for a TD on us, and DQ wasn't having it.

Some of what people are seeing and saying here is really not the issue they want you to think it is.

Correct. Our offense was scoring regularly, and fast. So the defense was worn down. Because there wasn't the typical 5-9 minute drive with Zeke getting his 4 yards per. I think Kearse took a fake injury timeout, because the defense needed a rest.

Anyway, they had a good game running the ball. But part of that was us allowing them to run to avoid giving up anything deep. That, and it's more difficult to play the run when you have a QB as athletic as Fields. That guy is going to be a player in this league, soon.

I think we made up our minds to bend a little more this game, and gave them stuff on the ground when we got ahead.

Happens.

Yeah they did but after it was 28-7 and went for it on 4th down. The Cowboys were making vacation plans at that point.

The thread asking about who has played and who has not really helps you see who has played and who hasn't, doesn't it?

We win 49 - 27 and the sky is falling.

I'm not saying we've won the year just yet. But you can't listen to the people who go from *****ing about one thing to another, depending on their reaction from the game.

Also, keep in mind there are a lot of fans of other teams, who pretend to be Cowboys fans. They fear us, and they think they can influence the narrative by spreading things that aren't necessarily true, but that they think other fans will parrot into the narrative that will impact the actual team.

Then again, some of our fans are pretty damn clueless and/or want all pros at every single position. And can't appreciate a team effort.

The only one on that list that worries me is Jones. Can’t believe he went in the 5th.

Unlike the Lions or Bears those teams wont be so hell bent on running if they get down.

By doing that yesterday, the Bears proved to me they were just trying to keep us under the 50 burger. Running teams when they get down by 20+ are pretty much done for.

Our best run defense is to do what the O did against the Bears, score early and often. Most teams don't run the ball every play down by 20, but its all the Bears got so thats what they do. I do think the addition of Hankins will be a big impact. Get Sam W more involved in the game plan and play Parsons more at LB on early downs. Outside of the Eagles and Tenn, I don't think they other teams we have left will hurt us with their running game.

Exactly, would love to have the best players at every position but lets face it..the cap kinda makes that hard. The Bears were happy to help us run the clock out and we didn.t throw resources from coverage to run D to stop them, Literally running 3 TE sets in the 2nd half while down 2 scores. The stats look bad (Stats matter again) but the bears basically gave up because they did not want to pass the ball. Would i love 2 all pro DT's for sure but to get those what are you sending away form the defense?

It's more about the RPO quarterback than it is about the running back, RPO's have been giving the Cowboys problems going all the way back to RG 111.
