Is anyone else watching the Isle of Man TT on HD Theater? If you're not, you should be.
This is the most insane racing I've ever seen. Basically what it is is a 3 lap race around the Island. The laps are 37 miles each. I don't see how these guys can possibly memorize the entire track. These idiots are literally on the verge of death at all times. One simple mistake can cost you your life.
Also, I don't know who or in what country the original broadcast is done, I'm assuming England, but they do a real good job of informing you on the riders and the history etc....but they do a better job of shutting up when they go to an onboard camera. I like to turn on and up the surround sound and sit about 4 feet in front of my 55' Vizio HDTV and it's almost like being there. All I can think is how these guys can possibly process all the information that's coming at them so fast.
This stuff blows every other form of racing out of the water in terms of the white knuckle factor....WOW!!!
I haven't heard yet what TT stands for. I'm assuming it stands for Time Trials since they stagger the bikes at the start, and whoever has the fastest time wins.
They also have sidecars. On the sidecar they have 2 guys. A driver and a "passenger." It this nutjob's duty to lean from side to side of the vehicle so that it doesn't tump over in the corners....at 150mph. At the end of the sidecar race I watched today, there had been a wreck and the guys on board where "rumored to be up about and talking." They cancelled the second race.
So if you're ever in the mood for a television provided adrenaline rush, I recommend it highly.
WOW!!!!....Just WOW!!!
