First off I really doubt any young NFL coach like Riveria interested in coaching the Cowboys since everyone believes Jerry Jones sees Jason Garrett as his future H/C 2-3 years down the road. I suppose a SB win might enable Riveria to keep the job for a while but first time team falters he'll probably be out of here unless Jones falls in love with him.

So that leaves us with an older coach like the 60 year old Bum Phillips & the twice failed (but it was the Skins & Raiders after all) Norv Turner. The question is which coach would help the Cowboys the most. I believe our 3-4 defense desperately needs Phillips to make it into the great defense we all hope and know it must become if we are to have any realistic chance at a SB. On the other hand the addition of Jason Garrett (even if long term he's the answer) probably weakens our offense until he shows he can scheme/design plays etc.

Frankly I think we need Phillips more cause there's nobody on this team who can turn around our defense asap. On offense Jones could surround Garrett with experienced vet coaches like Soparano & a few other coaches who can help ensure he learns the ropes, etc. Turner would not help our defense one bit nor would any of the other coaches like Gibbs or Bowles (not w/o Phillips anyone) unless we bring in one of Phillips defensive coaches as our new DC. That's way I'm very concerned if Turner becomes H/C
