Head-to-head comparison between Kiper and Mayock

The worst screw up Ive ever seen from Kiper was when he had Mike WIlliams (WR) as his best player in the entire draft. Mayock didnt even have a round one grade on him

Polian of the Colts saying who the he77 is Mel Kiper anyway is a memeory

That was Bill Tobin, who was fired a year or two after spouting off.

Kiper seems to fall in love with a WR almost every year and all he does is talk about how great they are going to be.

Mayock: There is this bowling-ball running back out of Hawaii named Nate Ilaoa. He is a 255-pound, overweight bowling ball. He didn't run well at the combine and if he gets drafted it will be probably be in the sixth or seventh round or he'll be a free agent. This kid came to Hawaii as a wide receiver and was a productive wide receiver until he stated gaining all this weight.
HAHAHAHAHA! Came in as a WR and is leaving as a 255 lb RB? That's insane!

Can we please sign this kid?

Only if the Columbus Destroyers let him go.:

Did he? I don't remember that.

Kiper feels vindicated that Dilfer ended up in a good situation and was part of a SB winning team. Dilfer was not even the starter for the first half of that season. Dilfer is a decent QB, but was not worth being drafted #6 over all. Just because he faired better than Jeff George is not a good enough reason to be Kiper's best pick. I would be ticked off if Dallas took a QB in the top 10 and he ended up with the type of career that Dilfer has compiled.

From Kiper's archives at ESPN.com --

"The NFL draft is here and I'm updating my board as the day goes along, so keep coming back to see where the top 25 players have landed.

1. Mike Williams (jr.), WR, USC (6-5, 230) | previous rank: 3
Drafted No. 10 overall by Detroit Lions Williams dominated the collegiate game for two full years before his bid to join the NFL draft as a sophomore was ended by the courts and he was declared ineligible by the NCAA. Williams is eligible for the 2005 draft, though, and after keeping his weight near 230 and performing adequately at the combine (4.56 in the 40), he is in a race with Braylon Edwards to become the top wideout in the draft. Williams likely would have been a top-10 pick last season and should be among the top 5-7 this year. His size, strength and toughness make him a tremendous package, and he can use his body control and hands to go after the ball over smaller defenders. His two-year totals at USC: 176 receptions, 2,579 yards and 30 TDs."

I don't know about that. Saying he felt vindicated by Trent Dilfer winning the Super Bowl is beyond laughable. Dilfer was a mediocre at best QB in the NFL and the Ravens clearly won in spite of him.

Had Mike Williams been able to come out as a Sophomore he would've been ranked in the top 3 and thats without even looking who came out that year.

The only reason his #1 ranking isn't validated is because he had to sit out a year.

Some of you forget how good of a player and how great of a talent Mike Williams was.

Unfortunately, Mike forgot he had that talent too and hasn't remembered where he left it.

That one he won, or the team won in spite of him, is still one more than Mirer or George ever even sniffed going to. Thus, his point, was that he was far more accurate on Dilfer (and he was) than the people who had George and Mirer as the next greatest QB's ever.

I remember people trying to proclaim Mirer the next Montana. Yeah how'd that work out? Not so well.

Dilfer was never great but him at 6, with a superbowl ring and a probowl or two is still LIGHT YEARS more than George or Mirer ever accomplished.
