We have heard throughout the process that teams could have under 15 1st rd grades this year. The top of the class just doesn't have many blue chip prospects, question is who has been assigned a 1st rd grade by the Cowboys and are they willing to take depth over value?

Important context. It’s why I don’t bang on Guyton and Mazi too bad. Where they were picked it is obvious they were second round talents. It is what it is if you pick at the end of the first

Didn't McClay say 15-18 during the PC?

Pidgeon holing draft prospect into rounds is a gross oversimplification. There's a world of difference between the first overall pick and the 32nd, yet they are both first round picks. You can rank the prospects. You can score the prospects. Saying there are only 12 worthy of the first round is artificial. You have to make the best pick you can when your pick comes up, and if you don't like your options you can try to trade out if you can find a willing partner.

Sometimes Dallas would be better served with a dart board than a draft board.

McClay said that they normally have between 15 and 18 true 1st round grades but he really never said that the Cowboys board had that many. Many sites have commented on there are between 8 and 12 true 1st round grades; many media have their own rating about who they are. There have been quotes from a few scouts if you scour the sites that consider this draft poor compared to past 10 drafts. Even pointing out that the WR group is good but none of them worth more than a late 1st early 2nd pick.

Scouts like the depth on the DL with a lot of good ones and see the RB group as the best in years. Appears after Booker, the best OG is in 3rd round. And OT is really hurting after top 7 of them and really only the kid from Ohio St is a true LT.

Betting that Cowboys have 9 guys with true 1st round grades and none of those are QB or S or OG. Still see them trying to trade down to pick up maybe a 3rd and 4th if they can.

If trying to figure out who is Jerry is trying to trade with and for what then need to look at those teams that have only 4 or 5 picks in the draft and/or teams that need cap space for their rookies and/or sign some vet after the draft. Texans, Falcons, and Dolphins come to mine and maybe Giants and Bills. Also look at the teams that are "done" with a certain player or two and on expiring contracts. Guys like Jalen Ramsey CB from Dolphins could net Miami a couple of 3rd day picks and easily get out of his contract after 2026. Or say Kyle Pitts TE or Drake London WR both of who it appears management is done with them as Pitts in on 5th year option and they have to either declare London for 5th year early May or this is his last year; Falcons are in desparate need of pass rush and Safety along with CB and they only have 5 picks.

Falcons only have $5.6 million in cap space although if they trade Cousins after the draft (likely) then have about $17 million. I don't see Jerry making a deal with Falcons unless it was for Drake London WR, #15 and London for #12 and say Wilson S, Tolbert WR, Brooks WR if rumors true about rift between London and coach. But who knows, if Jerry makes a deal and brings in someone like London then there is our #2 WR. And trading for Ramsey really does solve the CB spot at least for this year and probably next.

Tomorrow maybe we find out something or some will rant about how bad our pick was and others about the pick helping right away toward the playoffs, no one is going to be really happy.
