Spagnola article, so I take it with a grain of salt, but still:

At safety, for the time being, it’s Jeff Heath and Frazier probably at strong, with the Cowboys right now banking on Woods claiming the free spot – providing he plays well enough back there from this day forward to prevent the Cowboys from shopping for a veteran.
Seems like wacky pants to me. Heath has value as a single high FS. Yeah, he could compete for SS, but that's not him.

Trying to get the best players on the field. We will see all 3 on the field a lot like the church/wilcox/heath year. Woods could be special at fs and i dont think they view woods as an every down player. They will all get their snaps though imo.

Woods is an every down player for sure. He's a stud and always was a steal where we got him in the draft.

They don't view either Frazier or Heath as every down players, though. Frazier is a running down player and Heath is a passing down player. It would be better to have a SS who can play both, but it is what it is until we can buy an upgrade.

Oh yeah would have to find an athletic freak to be able to perform both.

Don't believe everything that you read. The reporter is just speculating. A previous report said that Heath would compete for both spots.

Derwin James.

Could have had him for this year's first 4th (Armstrong pick) and next year's 1st the Chargers or the team in front of them. We won't find a player that good drafting in the 20s or 30s next year. And we STILL could have had LVE, Connor Williams, Gallup and Schultz... Makes me sick

You do not know that. And how are you still going to get LVE if you trade 19 and the 4th?
no... trade next year's 1st, 3rd, and this year's 4th and throw in a late rounder from this year

Kam Chancellor 2.0's don't grow on trees, don't come around every year and we were 2 picks away from getting one.

Hence why I think they've botched safety this offseason.

Plus, I am not one that buys the idea that Heath is really good as a single high safety.

heath is the dime/quarter safety honestly. Think Wilcox from 2016. Not a big Heath fan but I prefer him as the dimeback over Brown honestly. Brown is just a fast athlete with no coverage skills except to grab jerseys.

I don't believe it would take much. In fact I believe that position is the weakest link on the defense. I really wish we had better options there.

Oh, my fault. I wouldn't have done that trade though. I'm not keen on trading future picks and I really don't value the SS position that highly.

Woods is the FS I have been waiting for. That’s why I didn’t really want ET. But the SS position is the question mark. Heath is a special teamer with some rotational safety..that’s it. Frazier is basically same type player. Subpar/mediocre safeties but decent athletes and hitters = special teams. SS definitely weak link on defense at this point. But then again the safety position has been weak link on our defense since Roy.

I’m actually perfectly okay with giving Woods every opportunity to earn the FS job.

I would’ve loved to have ET but it seems more logical to save the pick and sign ET for no draft compensation next year if Woods fails.

Plus...there are still some solid FA candidates in free agency that could compete for the FS job in camp.

I think he's better in coverage than Wilcox was but I don't believe he's a starting S in this league.

I believe Stephen Jones said Heath is competing at both spots, which is Dallas' way of saying that we have no clear starter at either position.
