Heath running down Barkley

Did anybody notice Jeff Heath run down Saquon Barkley from behind?

The announcer said Heath had an angle but it looked like a straight run-down in that last 5 to 10 yards.

Heath might not be great but he is by far a better Safety than Bill Bates on his best day, yet people loved Bates and hate Heath.

Heath is trash. It's good to know he looks impressive at chasing guys from behind 30 yards downfield though.

I noticed this and commented on it to my dad during the game. Also thought it was impressive

Herein lies a perfect example of why #38 irks me to no end....

90% of the time he's out of position and getting burnt. 10% of the time he's making plays like running down Barkley from behind to keep the legend going....

God this guy's gets on my nerves.

When you step back and remove the glasses, Bates wasn't that great.....lol
He was a very good special teams player, but average safety.

He does have like 4.3 speed, but he lacks quickness and lateral movement, but I like him. and yes, much better athlete than BB.

Yeah, I’m sure EVERYBODY noticed it. And, apparently it’s news to many around here that heath is considered our fastest defender. I was not surprised he caught him.

Right. He endeared himself to fans with his kamikaze special teams play. Same with Kenny Gant, except in his case, it wasn't as much about his play on the field as it was doing the shark impression.

It was really a good play but he’d had the worse game for any starter. Missed tackles...bad angles. They were targeting him. Saquain will make you look bad. He has to play better Saturday.

He can flat out fly. And he needs the speed because he will miss a tackle sometimes. I think most of us loved Bates because of the walk on story. Cinderella story. And Bates would take your head off also.

He's an average safety but he definitely can run. I think even Barkley did a double take that we was being caught.

People’s perceptions are their reality
Bates was an over achieving player who had little talent but huge heart and desire. He willed himself into an nfl career and a pretty good one
But he avg about one int per year, one sack per year and about 45 tackles per year
He made one pro bowl and was a dang good football player but people remember him as a super star type which he wasn’t
He was a good player and a fan favorite mostly because fans loved him because of who he was as much as how he played
The fact he wasn’t a super talent is one part of why fans loved him
