I rewatched the game. I really don't think Coughlin has a strong case with forward progress not being called by the officials.

If you watch Cruz after contact, it's clear that he's still fighting for yardage. He's even beginning to fall forward slightly when Oscan strips him.

It was a good no call.

Credit to Coughlin, he admitted it.

And, if a whistle had been blown just as Cruz had broken free and was running down the sidelines, Coughlin would have been more PO'd than he was in this situation. Simple fact is that Cruz was not yet down and "forward progress" whistles rarely happen outside the tackle box.

You posted as I was typing. Credit to Coughlin's hindsight view of the play.

Its amazing to me that a class guy and control freak like Coughlin has let his team be such a loudmouth bunch of punks, but I guess it has worked for them.

I read where Coughlin said he didn't know the trash talk was going on in the media. Does he not hold press conferences? and If so, did the media not ask him about it? I know coaches always do media conferences with opponents home media, at least by telephone; so, did the Dallas media not ask Coughlin what he thought about it? I know head coaches are too busy with game prep to spend much time caring what is going on in the media, but I call BS on Coughlin's "didn't know" remark.

Oh completely. And again this is a guy who has been accused in the past of being totally OCD. He knows and I think he even encourages it. After they won being complete asshats, why change?

One, I really like Tom Coughlin, and I can't help it. I don't know why, though, because I hate this current group of Giants more than any other group in the league. Two, he's totally aware of the trash talking and is talking out of both sides of his mouth about it because he believes these little motivators help his team. That's Parcels 101 right there.

Cool that he took back his earlier comments after watching the film, too.
