I'm not 100% sure of this but I think more Heisman Trophy winners have played for the Cowboys than for any other team. A total of 5.

Roger Staubach, 1963
Tony Dorsett, 1976
Herschell Walker, 1982
Vinny Testaverde, 1986
Eddie George, 1995

Many Heisman winners fail in the NFL, but I think you'd have to say those 5 guys did not. Even if you aren't thrilled with what Vinny and Eddie did for the Cowboys their overall careers were pretty good.

I believe the Raiders have had 6 Heisman Winners play for them:

Jim Plunkett
Marcus Allen
Bo Jackson
Tim Brown
Charles Woodson
Desmond Howard - I think he played one year with the Raiders.

Dang, you guys are quick.

Also look at the Saints. Just four but still:

George Rogers
Earl Campbell
Reggie Bush
Ricky Williams

My first thought was also the Raiders.

You have to include Billy Cannon to the Raiders list.

Detroit may also have a high total. They have been around a long time. Billy Simms, Barry Sanders and Andre Ware jump to mind and there may be more.

The Houston Oilers/Tennesse Titans had Earl Campbell, Mike Rozier and Eddie George. Are there more?

wow, even taking out Toretta and Glenn Davis that still gives the Lions 10.

After some quick Googling I found that the Raiders, Rams and 49ers each had 7 Heisman winners play for their respective franchises, which puts them all in a 3 way tie behind the Lions. I don't know who are the players for for the Rams and 49ers, but all of the Raiders have already been mentioned in this thread.

And I don't consider what Vinny and Eddie did as playing while they were with the Cowboys. They were just there at the same time.

I thought Rocket won the Heisman. If he did didn't we draft him initially as well? Plus he played here at the end of his career.

But I can't remember for sure if Rocket won it or not.

He finished second to Ty Detmer.

Most of those guys didn't have much of an NFL career. Sims and Sanders were outstanding of course but the rest were pretty forgettable.

Doak Walker was a good kicker but only played 6 seasons. IMO one of the most overrated players of all-time.

Leon Hart only had 1 good season and definitely wasn't as good as his hype.

I wouldn't bet against it.:D

It makes sense they would have the most. They've had a lot of really high draft picks over the years.

Isn't he staying in school? Still when he comes out in 2010 along with Tebow and whoever wins the 2009 Heisman there could possibly 3 different Heisman trophy winners available in the 2010 draft.

I am thinking Bradford is screaming 'don't pick me' since the Lions have never won a Super Bowl.
