Did anyone watch it yet?

The new series on AMC.

Just watched it after work today.

Has potential but too early to tell if it is going to be good or not.

I watched it and felt the same way you do. I'll probably keep watching it for now just because it comes on after walking dead but we'll see how it goes.

I gotta say I didn't really like the first episode very much. I had almost no idea what was going on till the very end when you found out meridian was a place and about his wife.

Yes the meridian thing was odd at first.
I was thinking...is this show have a supernatural tie in some how...when said opening the door to evil and then the other guy mentioned meridian I had a flashback of the clive barkers 80's movie Nightbreed which was based on his book Cabal.

I guess being from the south I knew right away what Meridian was :laugh1:

I watched this on the DVR last night. The show has promise and I like shows in that time period. Worth following for a season to see how it turns out.

I was glad the cartographer got taken out in the first episode. That relationship storyline was not interesting. I'm guessing she will somehow make it to Hell on Wheels and become the love interest.

What was the deal with the cartographers eyes? Did anyone else notice how odd they looked?

That was another part, initially, that made me think maybe this show was going to dabble into the supernatural a bit. But then he got killed and that was the end of that :laugh1:

His eyes looked like some kind of freaky contacts they would use in vampire or werewolf films.

Yeah, I noticed that too. Weird looking and really stuck out compared to others in the show.

Anyone watch the second episode? Thoughts?

Still nothing earth shattering, but I'll keep watching this season to see how it plays out.

Thought the second episode was a little better.

I will stick it out.

BP...did you (or anyone else) stick with this through the first season?

If so, thoughts? I'm hoping for a 2nd season, but hope the writing tightens up.

I like the show a lot too. They do a great job with casting, scenery, costumes, etc. I just love a good Western themed show and the building of the Continental Railroad is a major historical achievement. Lot of good storylines, but something seems to be missing.

It was funny to see the Swede get tarred and feathered. That is a weird looking dude and totally fits the part.

I hope they bring it back for a 2nd season.

Totally agree that it has not passed The Walking Dead. Although, TWD needs to pick up the pace to keep people interested. The preview at the end of HoW was interesting.
