I was out with my son who is three. We live in Vermont and he was wearing his Cowboys hat. He’s a Cowboys fan because I am.

We were in a coffee shop waiting for our order when a man called him over and asked him if he was a Cowboys fan. I told him we were and he said he played for Dallas in 1979. I introduced myself but he did not tell me his name or much about his playing days. I talked to him as much as I could while watching a three-year-old. Below is all I know about him.

He currently lives in New Mexico
His daughter goes to college in Vermont
He is 61 years old

Nothing else he said would have helped in identifying him. I mostly just talked to him about random things while making sure my son didn’t wreck the place. I asked him a little about the current team but he didn’t say much.

I didn’t want to be an idiot fan so I didn’t press on him. Anyway, any ideas who he was?

looked up the 1979 roster and then the birthdates...only two are 61, Steve Willson and Bruce Thornton

62: Larry Bethea, Robert Shaw, Ron Springs, Aaron Mitchell

everyone else is 63 or older

I am doing the same. I’m trying to find pics. Thanks for narrowing it down.

can you at least say if he was white or black?

My guess is Steve Wilson. Was a DB, 5-10

Got to be Hollywood Henderson. He was always a modest, low key kind of guy.
