Help! Laptop horrid sound

Peoples! There are so many very smart peoples here. I pray someone can help me with this.

A few weeks ago I bought a new laptop, a Toshiba Satellite. It was to replace my previous Toshiba Satellite that I had for many years that suddenly died.

I also bought a new speaker system, nothing fancy, to go along with it. 2 speakers, a subwoofer. Well, the sound from the new laptop is the worst I have ever heard. My previous Toshiba as just fine. But this new one, wow. What can I do?

I heard there is an external USB sound card...? Best Buy is out of them, I can't find any. Perhaps from Newegg?

Can anyone direct me to one of these external sound cards that will save my auditory life...?

Have you tried all the simple steps first? I assume you have but updating drivers, uninstalling/installing drivers, Looking for trouble shooting within the innate interface of the audio controls?

I guess along the lines of above normally I would search the topic and hit the major tech forums with the problem, it almost always brings up even a very unusual solution and instances of the problem. I mean if that model of Toshiba Satellite is known for pure crap audio it should be all over the net and you can see if it is just something rare.
