Last night on the post game show on The Ticket, they talked about Hatcher. And they said that he had made the comment (paraphrase) that he couldnt go in this game because its his free agent year and he doesnt want any bad "game tape" of him floating around.

I missed this. I trust that this really was said????? If it was, then I dont know what to think.

Would be curious about this.

First I am hearing about it and I would think he is smart enough not to have said that even if he was thinking it. But with this team it would not shock me.

I saw a post game video of him saying he wasn't quoted correctly and he knows now not to talk to the reporter that said "he wasn't going out there unless he can be Jason Hatcher, not going to put that on film."

The reporter was Ed Werder.

He did say it, but there's a vid up on DC.com of him discussing the comment and what he meant by it. Everyone should go watch it. Hatcher's one of the players on this team most worth keeping right now.

Jason Hatcher addressed the "bad film" comment he made. Said his response to a reporter had nothing to do with being in a contract year.
Jason Hatcher: "I have all the respect in the world for this organization. If it wasn't for Jerry, I wouldn't be here."
Jason Hatcher: "If I do say something I have to make sure it's black and white and nobody can put no grey area in there for me."
Jason Hatcher: "I won't have a bye week because I want to come back and being the Jason Hatcher I left and help my team win."

He wouldnt be the first to make a business decision. When money is involved it mucks everything up.

Not only hatch but the whole organization is always under the microscope. To the point where I think it's a detriment to the team. It shouldn't be, but without strong leadership, I think it is.

My take on what he said/meant:
It is a nationally televised game and he doesn't want to look bad ("on film" for fans to see) due to an injury. I took it as he has pride in his performances.

Who really cares what he said or meant. He is in his thirties and this is the last chance he will ever get to get "paid." We all know that. Unfortunately, for Hatcher the Cowboys just don't have a lot of money to give him and he is at the end of his career. It is time to part with him. The Cowboys just can't tie up big money in a 30-something DL who finally had a really good year.

More and more players these days are making business decisions unless they have already been paid. RGIII ain't running around throwing his body around so much this year under this rookie contract. Same with Kaepernick and Russell. Show them the guaranteed money and they will. Take a look at GB TE Finley. He may be done with football now. Hope he saved his money and invested wisely because the gravy train may be over for him. Don't get divorced (so don't be cheating) because she gets half and you're still left with paying for the kids.
