The problem with that is, you cannot buy Win 7 anymore! I have looked all around for it. My son and I both want to get it but you cannot find it and I'm not sure if it's even supported anymore.

heh, XP just went out of support so you've got a long way to go in win7.

i'm downloading win8.1 now (from my MSDN subscription - all legal!) and will put it on my 20" touch screen just to see what it does. win8 was on it but since i didn't log in for quite some time, the wireless locked me out and i had to hardwire it to the router.

didn't care enough to lug it to the front of the house so i flipped the machine off then shut it down.

I guess I'm not sure what I'm talking about. I thought I could not buy win 7. Would you please let me know what you think about win 8.1?

microsoft refuses to move away from the "metro" tile look and insists phones, pc's, tablets and everything share the same interface.

hell, even apple doesn't do that.

but i'll let ya know.

Thanks, brother. I just want to get on the computer and screw with things like music or movies or what-not. I don't need or use all those freaking tiles and crap.

You might be wasting your money with Windows 7. They might not have drivers for your hardware. Unlikely, but something to consider.

Just download the app that disables the windows 8 screen. Install win 7 menu bar. Voila!
