I'm trying to burn a video onto a dvd. The clips combined are only 2GBs but when I import them into my burning software it says there 7GBs! Why does it do this? The burning sofware I use is Unlead Moviefactory.

What format are the videos that you are burning?

Perhaps your Moviefactory software is calculating the size of the video based on converting them to MPEG2 format to be played on a DVD Player.

Well, I convert every video to a Vob Dvd type file, it usually makes other videos smaller so they can fit on one disc.

what is the format of the video now? Is it xvid, divx or wmv?

if so then when trying to put them onto disc as a vob, they have to be rendered (authored) to mpeg2.

This will make the file size much larger.

also, Audio format is big in file size. If it is pcm audio it will take alot of space, you can shrink the audio size by making it dolby digital 2 channel.

I think it is just the conversion from whatever format you are in now, and I suspect it is wmv or divx to mpeg2. There will be a large difference.

Oh and have fun waiting for that render, 2 meg of ? to 7 mb of mpeg 2, it is going to take awhile.

I got nero and I burned a DVD, using the (Make Your own DVD) option. When it was finished after about TWO hours, I tried to watch it but it had burned it into a data disc instead! Did I do something wrong?
