My first mock attempt but let me preface by saying I am in the pro QB crowd and personally would go that route. However for this mock the Cowboys trade down not once but twice to maximize draft value.
Cowboys trade 4th overall to SF for #7 and their 2nd. 9ers take Goff. I then trade the 7th to the Rams for their highest 2nd rd pick as they trade up for Paxton Lynch.
1- William Jackson CB Houston
I'm sure this is too early for him for some of you but I fell he won't make it to 34.
He has the size to cover big WR's and the speed to keep up with the burners running a 4.37 at the combine. Led the nation with 23 PB's with 5 INT's. Playmaker.
2- Jonathan Bullard DE UF
Versatile DE who has the strength and motor to slide inside. Relentless never stop attitude. As a SR had 17.5 TFL and 6.5 sacks.
2- Carl Nassib DE Penn St
At 6'7 and 277 lbs has the ideal size and length. Keeps tackles at bay with long arms. Another relentless player. Former walk on who doesn't know the meaning of the word quit. Had 19.5 TFL and 15.5 sacks as a SR.
2- Joshua Perry ILB/OLB OSU
Big physical old school thumper that led the Buckeyes in tackles. Will start day one at SAM LB and has the versatility to play inside. Leader on and off the field.
3- Jeremy Cash SS Duke
1st team all American and made Austin spades. Excellent tackler and blitzed. All over the field. Last 2 years had 212 tackles, 28.5 TFL,8 sacks, 11 PBU, 2 INT and 3 FF. another relentless playmaker.
4- Jordan Howard RB IU
At 6'0 230 Howard is a thumper and a load to bring down. Has excellent vision and continues to get stronger as the game goes on. 1st team all big ten with 6.2 ypc. Had at least 145 yards in every game started. Leader in the locker room.
4- KeiVarae Russell CB ND
Athletic corner who will provide depth at one of the most expensive positions. Held his own against some of the top WR's in the country during his time with the Irish. Versatile corner who has played outside and in the slot.
6- Matt Skura C Duke
1st team all acc and 2nd team all American. Extremely cerebral player with excellent technique. Won't be outworked. One of coach cutcliff's favorite players for his work ethic and approach to the game. Has also played some guard.
6- Jeff Driskell QB La Tech
Has the size and athleticism NFL teams crave. Can make all the throws. Needs work on the mental side of the game but sitting behind Romo should afford him that. Need some time.
6- Trevor Davis WR/KR Cal
A work in progress as a WR but established KR. Runs a 4.4. Will help in the Return game immediately.
6- Lawrence Thomas DT MIch St
Nice size at 6'3 290 with the frame to easily carry more weight. Started off as a LB for the Spartans. Excellent athleticism for the position. 2nd team all big ten. Another piece for Rod's rotation.
Well there it is. Would have liked to address DT earlier but Thorton will start with McClain if healthy as his backup. What ya think?
