That's nice to know. We have a good blend of young and mature guys on this team and Jenkins already has his mentor.

They compare nicely...except that Jenkins isn't a ballhawk like Henry and Henry isn't nearly as athletic as Jenkins. In other words, they're not much alike. ;)

Yes, Henry may have injury concerns every year but there's never been any doubt about his hard work ethic & play when healthy. Any lack of focus by Jenkins will quickly be knicked in the bud by Henry along with other secondary players -- including Pacman who I understand has great work ethic once he inside the Titans facility. Expect that to prevail, if not reach new level, once he gets approval to work out at VR (make that IF he gets approval).

Mike Jenkins has good ball hawk skills, I don't know where those reports came from... I guess people are confusing him with McKelvin who didn't have many INT's in 2007.

Ive mad this comparison many times but here is a more recent one I threw together for Chocolatelab a couple days ago before I ever knew they were friends.

---------

I watched a couple of his games this year when their team got into the National title picture.

When I watched him his game looked a lot like Anthony Henrys except hes a superior athlete.

He has a very high ceiling, and most ready out of all these guys imo.

Physical guy who looks like he can do what ever you can ask of a corner.

I think youll like him.

The only thing is I dont see him getting as much PT as people think if Henry and Newman stay healthy.

Henry when healthy can be our best playmaking Corner. Last season for the first 5 game so He was bounds better then Newman, That dude was raw early on when healthy. Same as the year before that untill getting injured.

Campo said one of the things he likes about him is how he attacks the ball.

He has a really high number passes deflected per attempts. So, it seems rational to say that he attacks the ball, but he doesn't have the ball skills to turn them into INTs.

Actually didn't Jenkins only have 6 INTs for his entire career?

That is neither here, nor there, in this debate as I think they have similair technique but that Jenkins is more athletic and faster.

I dont know if you can really say that.

Interceptions have a lot to do with opportunities presented to the player.

Mike Mayock has repeatedly said that he often failed to convert opportunities into INTs.

So, we have (1) Mayock's opinion on the matter after watching film, and (2) objective statistical data that tends to support that conclusion, and (3) apparently his DCo's opinion on the matter confirming.

What do you have to support your assertion? How many USF games did you watch?

About 4 times and I never said he could or couldn't.

But I do know he has the potential to do anything you can ask out of a corner.

Jenkins is a much better athlete than Henry. They have a similar build, but Jenkins is much quicker and faster than Henry. I think Henry was timed at 4.6 in the forty. Which is probably obvious to most people. Henry uses his instincts and play recognition to help himself out. Jenkins shouldn't have to rely on those things nearly as much.
