I don't get this. Henry balked at backing up McGahee, but is fine backing up Brown because it's in TN? He must be banking on Brown getting injured again.

I assume you mean Taylor.

Perhaps he has a better shot to start than I think. I just think he should have picked a team where there was little doubt.

Yep. In the end I think he picked between the backing up Fred Taylor or Chris Brown. I'm pretty sure Fred Taylor has only missed 2 games in the last three years, and he's definitely more talented than Henry. Chris Brown missed 5 games last year and is still recuperating from in injury, and who knows, I think Henry has a decent chance to win the job out right.

I think he's counting on Brown getting injured, which should happen.

What do you mean 'he's fine with it?' He was traded, not signed as a FA. It doesn't matter whether he is fine with it or not - he get's no say.

I don't guess you guys watch much ESPN because they're talking Fred Taylor may not play this season due to his injury from last season where he tore two major knee ligaments but was only told he tore one. That is why Jax is looking at getting another RB. Taylor says he will be ready but Jax doesn't think he will be able to play.

By the way Henry didn't have any choice where he went and actually had a long term deal worked out with Jax and not TN. So that should tell you where he prefered to go. IMO

I was thinking the same thing. A player under contract has no say in what team he gets traded to unless he has a no trade clause which is very rare. He would not be the first player to walk into the locker room to find someone else’s name on his locker and a note to go see the coach waiting for him (although in this case I guess he isn’t coming to the locker room anyway so the coach would have to call his agent or call him at home to tell him).

Of course it is unlikely that the Titans would have traded for him without talking to him and his agent first to be sure that they were not buying a bag of trouble. They probably gave him assurances that he would have a legitimate shot at competing for the starting job. But in the final analysis the teams do not really have to talk to the player to cut a deal.

That would make sense. He will probably end up starting a few games.

Donahoe kept thinking he was going to get a 1st for Henry. Obviously they didn't want to go into camp with this hanging over their heads.

And now Buffalo needs a running back.

See, I was thinking the same thing. In my mind Jacksonville was the more attractive option for him. I realize he had no say in the matter. This just surprises me a bit.

Side thought, anyone think Barber or A-Train could be dealt for a draft pick if Tyson Thompson impresses enough? I think Jacksonville is potentially in trouble at RB. They should bit the bullet and take the ridiculously low offer that the Colts asked for Edgerrin James. Anyway, just thinking out loud.

I think Henry's better than Brown--more reliable. Both get hurt alot, but Henry plays through his injuries.

Either way, Tennessee's gonna be in trouble this year

You don't think Rashard Lee can handle the backup duties?? Seeing how he was so misused here... :)

And let's not forget McGahee. I think they'll be alright.

I actually do think Lee fits their scheme better than ours and might be the settled backup there.

Looks like the only option left for starting for Henry was Jax if Taylor is too hurt to play (which some reports say he's not). Not that Travis had any say so, but with a fragile Brown, he should get plenty of play time with the Titans.

I think they'll split time if both are healthy anyway, Floyd Reese said it'd be a training camp battle. They also said they had the main parts of a contract extension worked out.

Donahoe didn't say anything about a 1st from what I've read. Since the draft all they wanted was a 3rd, and he said the 1st team to offer that up get's Henry.

Nope. He was in the last year of his contract. No team wanted to trade for him without first negotiating an extension, so yes he did have a say.

ESPN is overrated, most of the time its replays and old news, yet I watch it anyway.

Even if Taylor isn't ready by the start of the season, Toefield is pretty good too. Tennessee has no capable backup to Chris Brown. There's no competition there.

All the talk about Henry going to Jax on Friday and over the weekend was posturing anyway, Tennessee had always had the better offer on the table, word is Jax didn't want to give up a third.

Henry believes he can win the starting job from Brown and knows it would have been impossible to unseat a talented, high draft pick like McGahee. It's a win-win for Tennesee as they get have a bruiser in Brown and a well-rounded workhorse in Henry. Each will help keep the other healthy.
