Dak is an average QB. Anyone who watches the games can tell you that. He’s dangerous rolling out on the run. That’s it. Why do you think teams sell out to stop the run against us? No one fears Dak Prescott.
Dak has played far and above average an average quarterback the last 4 years. Please stop it.

Fangio's comment is as vanilla as it gets. Cowherd tried to turn in into something by invoking Patrick Mahomes. Nobody on Earth can do what Mahomes does. I bet, though, a DC would make the same statement if Mahomes was out and Wentz was in.
Wentz is not a starting QB at this stage in his career and if any number of the top 10 NFL starting QBs were unavailable then there would be a drop off to Wentz.
Cowherd gave another example with Tua.
You can also look at Arizona with and without Kyler Murray since 2021. They are 20-22 with him and 4-14 without him.
Since 2019 Cowboys are 44-30 with Prescott as QB and 5-1 with Cooper Rush over that period.
More specifically in 2022 the Cowboys were 8-4 with Prescott and 4-1 with Rush.
I don't consider Rush the better quarterback for one moment and the defense stepped up a tick for those 4 wins with Rush in 2022 but the numbers strongly suggest that Prescott is clearly not a difference maker unlike many other quarterbacks in the league and that's the point Cowherd was making.

I am far from a Dak defender but Cowherd is gaslighting here. If you watch the actual interview he’s basically talking about how the Cowboys won’t have to change much because Rush has been around the team for years and knows the offense.

He’s not talking about the skill sets, for example, of the two guys.
If you don’t have to change much that means there’s not much of a difference in skill set.

I don’t know if Fangio was intentional or not (probably the latter), but he’s basically saying the same thing.

And that difference is certainly not worth $57 million.

Not a slight on anyone. Fangio just recognizing the defensive game plan doesn’t have to change. If anything, a small backhanded compliment for Rush.

I'm not sure i agree with that because this is just a very basic offense.

It's more of a slight to McCarthy and Dakota because it's an archaic scheme and either it remains that way because of Daks limitations or MMs.

Dak has played like crap, but so many other factors have contributed as well. Good years and bad, all part of the game. What we do going forward is all that matters now. Coaches, players, injuries, bad FO moves or lack of....it's been a confluence of a cluster *****.
Go Cowboys! I'm of to Austin for an EDC training. Have a good weekend!

He had a great season last year, no doubt. Above average, but disappeared when he’s needed the most. He has consistently done that throughout his career so how can I label him a great quarterback when the great ones do it with far less.

Respect that opinion, but ask yourself, “What benefit is there for a coach to slight an opposing team/player just prior to playing them?” This is Vic’s way of reminding HIS OWN TEAM that regardless of who’s playing QB, we’re preparing for the same system run by a competent QB, so don’t you dare relax for one minute.

I think the perception of this statement (by the Cowboys fan base) is more a reflection of your thoughts on your head coach and QB.

Just stop. What do you think the opposing DC is supposed to say? "Rush sucks. We're so thankful Dak got hurt"?

If Rush was as good as Dak he would be starting for another team. Again, Dak was runner up in the MVP voting last year.

the stupidity of this is that no coach no matter what would ever say otherwise. last thing you want is a locker room bulletin and you never insult the other teams players. you pump them up.

now, ask him in private when the mic is off and he will tell you the truth.

look at detroit and what they said aftewards...prior, OH, dallas is great, blah blah blah...afterwards they said take away CD and dallas is done!
