This list is definitely quantity over quality. At first glance one might be tempted to panic and say "How can they replace all these players?" Truth be told, there is only small handful that would concern me if they lost them.

Regardless of how you look at this, as most will say let them all go or keep 1 or 2.....that is way too many players to replace. Any player replacing them still needs to learn the system.
Don't be disappointed to see at least half of these players return. Just hope they are the right players.

I can see 8 at least that will be back, or should be back.
Irving will be the 9th.
But I don't see any players getting big contracts elsewhere to get us any comp draft picks.

However they need to sign other teams FA's, as well as the draft to compete with these guys too.
If they bring back Durant and / or Gachkar, what is that saying for Nzeocha....they better draft LB's, as I don't think either of them 2 should be back. Well maybe Durant on a cheap contract. Just for competition in TC.

One player I do not want back is Dunbar. If they bring this guy back, this staff shows it still has major brain issues.

We need to keep a couple of the secondary players as well as McLain, McFadden, and Irving. Maybe Terrance Williams.

I just seriously pray that the team's infatuation with Dunbar has run it's course. The guy is a bum who's been treated like the second coming of darren sproles. PLEASE get him off the team

Oh you already know how it'll be next offseason.

Garrett : "Well last season was the first time that Lance was able to play a full season. He's worked out hard this offseason and is healthy for the first time in his career. We can't wait to execute some mismatches with him this season!"

Aside from maybe three names the rest are total bums

I wouldn't go that far but totally get your point.

It's why I laughed at the Seattle blog report about how we were going to get gutted in free agency. It was also picked up by an Eagles blog and talked about how we were going to suck next year. Suddenly guys like Carr, Church, Wilcox were really good players................. 3 months ago when we played the Eagles, their analysis was Church and Carr and Wilcox were weak secondary players. Funny how that works out now that we may lose a few.............. suddenly, they are really good players that might be irreplaceable. LOL.

QB Kellen Moore - I think circumstances and familiarity gets him another year here.
QB Mark Sanchez - Before he played in a game, I thought this was a sure thing. He's done.
RB Lance Dunbar - This staff seems hell bent on making him a thing. I don't see it.
RB Darren McFadden - For me, it depends on the money. I'm content with Alfred Morris as the #2, especially with an increased workload for Zeke.
WR Brice Butler - Depends on the money, but I'd be prepared to let him go (and I know Brice).
WR Terrance Williams - Someone is going to overpay him. Hope like heck it isn't us.
TE Gavin Escobar - If it's a cheap 1 or 2-year deal, sure. Otherwise, move on.
G Jonathan Cooper - I've always been a fan so I say yes. We took a shot on him for a reason.
G Ronald Leary - I think he's earned a bigger contract than we can afford to give him. He's earned it. I'm perfectly fine with La'el Collins at LG.
DT Richard Ash - Who?
DT Jack Crawford - A try hard guy but he's limited. Time to upgrade.
DE Ryan Davis - Again, an opportunity to upgrade. I don't mind him coming back and competing for a roster spot. If Tapper is healthy, no need to keep Davis.
DT Terrell McClain - A definite re-sign for me, but we need to be conscious of his injury history in contract talks.
LB Andrew Gachkar - No thank you.
LB Justin Durant - No thank you.
LB Rolando McClain - I was always a fan but you simply cannot depend on him.
CB Brandon Carr - 1-year cheap deal? Sure. Otherwise, move on and upgrade. Need playmakers.
S Barry Church - Many of you guys love him, but he's a liability in coverage and getting slower by the day. A great opportunity to get better versus being loyal to a good character guy.
CB Morris Claiborne - He improved so much than reminded us all that he just can't stay healthy. A 1-year deal (cheaper than this year) might tempt me, otherwise, move on and upgrade.
S J.J. Wilcox - I thought he really improved and found his role. I'm not overpaying, but would consider a new deal.

Exclusive Rights:

DE David Irving - No brainer and no worries. He can't go anywhere for a few years. Keep making him earn it though.

Resign Carr won't find a better cb for 5 mil
Sign Irving might break out

I find it funny that exactly a year ago JJ Wilcox was the #1 guy (well aside from Hardy) everyone wanted gone. Now he's a keeper. He seemed to improve his coverage skills (thanks coach jackson) and has kinda become the enforcer of the secondary even with a limited role. Remember this is only his 5th year (college and NFL) of playing the safety position. He seems to be getting better at the position and I can see the front office bringing him back another year with a "prove it" type deal.

We were close this year. You don't get better by allowing a big chunk of the team go and having holes in a number of places. Be at least covered in every spot and then draft BPA.

Unrestricted:

QB Kellen Moore - Keep with a vet min, but try to upgrade
QB Mark Sanchez - Time to move on, unless he signs for vet min or close to it.
RB Lance Dunbar -Time to move on. I want to see Zeke get those 3rd down plays.
RB Darren McFadden - I think he was better than Morris and cutting Morris would save us 1.6 million, which could possibly get us McFadden resigned.
WR Brice Butler - Keep with a vet min (or close to it), but try to upgrade
WR Terrance Williams - Would like to keep, but likely too expensive
TE Gavin Escobar Time to move on
G Jonathan Cooper - Keep with a vet min (or close to it)
G Ronald Leary Would like to keep, but likely too expensive
DT Richard Ash Keep with a vet min, but try to upgrade
DT Jack Crawford - Keep with a vet min (or close to it), but try to upgrade
DE Ryan Davis Keep with a vet min, but upgrade is the biggest off-season priority
DT Terrell McClain Would like to keep, but may be too expensive
LB Andrew Gachkar Keep with a vet min (or close to it), but try to upgrade
LB Justin Durant - Keep with a vet min (or close to it), but try to upgrade
LB Rolando McClain Time to move on
CB Brandon Carr - Would like to keep for a reasonable short -term contract while finding a younger replacement is the second biggest priority.
S Barry Church - Need to keep either Church or Wilcox. Church is solid and a team leader while Wilcox is younger and may have more upside.
CB Morris Claiborne - Would seek another one-year, reasonable deal, but if he wants more than its time to move on
S J.J. Wilcox (See Church above)

Exclusive Rights:

DE David Irving - He will be back and team may try to get a multi-year deal buying "on-the-cheap."

I just don't see many teams spending much on Terrance..I'd bring him back. MO is probably looking at another one year deal..if he hadn't got hurt again, he was no doubt looking at a multi year.
Mcfadens probly gone
Carr I'd bring back on a three year deal, no, he isn't Deion but he's solid.
Keep church and Wilcox

Here’s The Complete List Of 2017 Cowboys Free Agents To Be
http://www.dallascowboys.com/news/2017/01/19/here’s-complete-list-2017-cowboys-free-agents-be

Unrestricted:

RB Darren McFadden
DT Richard Ash
LB Rolando McClain

Darren McFadden should remain under his current contract for the 2017 season.

Run DMC hurt himself at home in a non-football activity last off-season and was unavailable to play because of the injury.

McFadden spent most of the regular season on NFI before playing in the final 3 regular season games.

Players on NFI do not receive credit for being on a roster.

Players must be on the roster, at full pay, for a minimum of 6 regular season games in order to accrue a season of service towards unrestricted free agency. The final year of McFadden's contract should carryover to next season.

Richard Ash hasn't been in the NFL long enough to qualify for unrestricted free agency.

He will be an Exclusive Rights free agent.

Rolando McClain was unavailable to play in 2016 because of a drug suspension. Just like with NFI, players who miss more than 10 regular season games because of a suspension will not accrue a season of credit towards unrestricted free agency and the contract will toll (carryover).

In McClain's case, I don't think he's ever going to play another down in the NFL, so it's a moot point. The team is just doing what is necessary in order to get cap credit for McClain's contract.

I'd keep T-Will and kick Butler to the curb and add a wr with some serious wheels!!!

I just don't see many teams spending much on Terrance..I'd bring him back.

Granted, I'm still furious with Terrance Williams for the drop during our second possession against Green Bay, but I have no problem recognizing his value to the team.

That said, despite being a starter, Williams was the fourth leading pass catcher this season and he could drop to fifth behind Ezekiel Elliott in 2017, if the wideout was re-signed.

I'm not paying a big, second contract for that.

It shouldn't take much more than the veteran minimum to re-sign Brice Butler, unless he gets a totally unexpected offer on the open market, and that would mean his spot wouldn't be guaranteed. Butler would have to earn it during the off-season, training camp and pre-season.

Try to add another cheap veteran wideout that just hasn't clicked yet, look for a keeper during the draft and let things sort themselves out from there.

MO is probably looking at another one year deal..if he hadn't got hurt again, he was no doubt looking at a multi year.

I like the player and don't mind trying another one year deal.

But Dallas would have to cover itself with another veteran CB given Morris Claiborne's injury history.

Is it worth it or is it time to go in another direction?
Carr I'd bring back on a three year deal, no, he isn't Deion but he's solid.

I'm very glad Brandon Carr rebounded with a stronger season at RCB, but I'm not interested in continuing this partnership.

Time to turn the page.

Keep church and Wilcox

It's difficult to see both returning, it will likely be just one or the other.

Barry Church is a veteran leader and very vocal in the secondary.

J.J. Wilcox is the only thumper we have on defense and he made a lot of progress with his game this season. He's a young player and still learning the safety position after switching to it as a senior in college.

I don't think any of us expected him to even make the team last year after his play took a nosedive in 2015.

A case can be made to go either way.
