Most of the players you would think we could or should be scheduling visits with are either signed, which really is just Chaveous, Longwell, and the dream Bentley, or are not visiting with anybody.

For the 3 players signed I am sure we inquired if we had interest in them, but obviously the price was to high for what we want to spend. I can live with that.

Now for all the other players we have interest in, and I am sure there are a few, I have no doubt we have contacted their Agents, as I am sure many other teams have as well.

You really are not seeing them visit anyone.

What that tells me is the asking price is to high at this point in time for a visit to be worth it.

The players and agents are probably going to hold out a little longer to see if a team may get a little more desperate, at some point that price will come down, and that is when we will see more activity.

I think a lot of the Veterans are going to fall in this boat. They have the name and are looking for the money, but teams just are not biting and going to pay above market price, especially for a player with just a few years left.

I can think of several players that would fit this description we probably have interest in.

Just my opinion and trying to make sense of it.

I guess my question is who did we miss out on that was priced right? Chavous I wanted but too old for that kind of money. Randel El why? Bentley too much cash. So who did we miss? Longwell was the kicker I wanted but he signed before we got a visit.

So who did we really miss out on?

"Visits" are overrated. From what I've read on the Bentley signing, he was "visiting" the Eagles. The Eagles made an offer to which Bentley verbally agreed. His agent pounded the phones of every team that may have interest to see if they'd beat the offer. Cleveland did and signed him.

I would think that Longwell's agent was just as competent.

If no one would have offered to beat the Eagles offer for Bentley, would that mean that no one else was ever in the running?
