With Vinatieri, Longwell & Bryant being signed, only options now available are Vanderjagt, Edinger, etc., unless Miami cuts Mare or Seattle doesn't have enough money to keep Brown; don't believe latter 2 are viable options (unless Rosenhaus knows something).

Edinger born 1978, 5'8", 175#, 7 years exp FA
Spent first 5 years with Bears; last year 2005 with Vikes

Career: 1-19 20-29 30-39 40-49 50+
2-2 36-38 33-49 48-67 2-4 Career avg: 75%
Vikes: 0 11-11 3-8 8-10 3-5 1 year avg: 73.5
Edinger was perfect in PATs

Some of you might think he's okay, but don't like his poor 3-8 between 30-39, which appears to be his worst distance. Perfect inside 29 & on longer distances. Can we live with this?

I would settle for Edinger at this point sad to say. Miami isn't going to cut Mare if Vanderjagt signs with NE and Seattle has plenty of money to match an offer to Brown. Edinger kick 3 GW FG's last season although he does struggle from 30-39, but is pretty good from 40 plus, it's weird I know. Petersen is good from 30-39, but is below average after 40.

If Vanderjagt or Brown aren't wearing a :star: I am feeling pretty down about our kicking situation regardless.

I agree, and I'd settle for Mare if he happens to be cut. Edinger or anyone else would be a failure for the offseason. With all these good kickers available, and us not having a good kicker for over a decade, walking away with Edinger would definitely leave a bad taste in the mouth.

The best kickers always lead their team in scoring for a reason.

I don't want to yell at the tv "GO FOR IT - IT'S FOURTH AND INCHES!"

I want to sit back and say - meh - go for the kick....he'll make it.

...is not a fundamentally sound kicker. His stats over the years have shown that and there is a reason why the Bears and the Vikings have let him go.

He's performed poorly. From a technical standpoint he faces the opposite direction of the posts when he begins his kicking stance. That amount of variables he is dealing with in his kicking stance and motion makes it a much more difficult affair when you are dealing with pressure or in a slump.

He's not a good choice for a team such as the Cowboys who have been dealing with inconsistent kicking the past few years.

It would be a downgrade from what we had last year.

Maybe he would find more success if he continued his kicking motion while looking away from the goalpost?

Because, as it is, he sure hasn't been too successful.

At least we know Suisham can connect from 20-29 yards (3-for-3). That has to give us a little confidence in the kid, right? ......... Right?

Edinger had 5 yrs with da bears....and I would much rather have brown, or (the colt now) vin, but he is a major upgrade. I think you ppl are putting to many eggs in a basket this yr. And as far as the comment goes for suisham(or however you spell his name) 3 for 3 is not exactly a record I would put much stock in.(they did give him up for a reason...Rook,...) The 40-49 yarders are the clutch kicks...edinger seems to lack on the shorties....But then again, realize where he was kicking....5 yrs with da bears(OHHHH, great weather conditions there, than with the vikes where he had a low season even for him on a not so good team who got very lucky toward the end of the season. So I would take edinger over vandy but not over brown or mare....especially since vandy cant kick off....so have some faith....u never know how he will fair in TX....Brown, or edge here we come baby!!!!
