I partially agree. I could be wrong but think the cat was doing what cats typically do. He was playing with the rat and was taken aback when the rat got defensive.

Now, I think the situation would have been different if the cat was seriously stalking the rat with intent to kill. The cat would have countered the face-off with attacks of its own to subdue its prey.

My super powerful ESP for interpreting what animals think in moving images make me believe the rat instincts told it the cat was only playing also. Of course, my pseudo mind powers of observation may all be just a figment of my imagination. :laugh:
