Darrell Robertson, Tearrius George, Khari Long, or even Erik Walden (Who IS he & was he REALLY the BPA at the top of the 6th rd?), steps up and wins the SOLB spot. I am sick & tired of hearing that for the umpteenth time, Greg Ellis is concerned about the time, reps, respect, money, etc., he's not getting from the team, & he's pouting.
Like most people, I think Greg is a solid person, and player, once he makes his mind up that the coaches know what they're doing. The problem is, he has the memory of my 3 yr. old granddaughter. Year after year, Greg becomes alarmed about how the team views him & his talents, and year in & year out, he discovers they just made it possible for him to surpass any previous year. Man, he played in just 13 games last year, and had 12 1/2 sacks! Personally, I hate the half sack business, so let's just say 13 sacks. That's a sack a game!! It's like Merriman numbers without the needles.
But there he was at training camp last year, grumbling & mumbling. There comes a time when you just have to say, "Man, this guy just doesn't get it, & I'm sick and tired of trying to show him the light." So, if Spencer comes on like I think he will, and Darrell Robertson, (who I think was a super steal) has a solid rookie season, I'm hoping that this is the last year Jerry has to coddle Ellis. The guy showed he is one of the best OLB/PRs in the league last year, so we do need him to win the Super Bowl-(See NY Giants).
Once they see we have enough pass rushers on the left side to do without him, I'm hoping that the Cowboys find Ellis a new home. This team is solid, with a lot of high character guys, and I know I'll hear, "We'll lose a high character guy if Ellis goes", but if you have a player pouting & whining every training camp, how is his 'good character' going to shine for the rookies and newer players?
