Here's hoping that either Anthony Spencer...

Darrell Robertson, Tearrius George, Khari Long, or even Erik Walden (Who IS he & was he REALLY the BPA at the top of the 6th rd?), steps up and wins the SOLB spot. I am sick & tired of hearing that for the umpteenth time, Greg Ellis is concerned about the time, reps, respect, money, etc., he's not getting from the team, & he's pouting.

Like most people, I think Greg is a solid person, and player, once he makes his mind up that the coaches know what they're doing. The problem is, he has the memory of my 3 yr. old granddaughter. Year after year, Greg becomes alarmed about how the team views him & his talents, and year in & year out, he discovers they just made it possible for him to surpass any previous year. Man, he played in just 13 games last year, and had 12 1/2 sacks! Personally, I hate the half sack business, so let's just say 13 sacks. That's a sack a game!! It's like Merriman numbers without the needles.

But there he was at training camp last year, grumbling & mumbling. There comes a time when you just have to say, "Man, this guy just doesn't get it, & I'm sick and tired of trying to show him the light." So, if Spencer comes on like I think he will, and Darrell Robertson, (who I think was a super steal) has a solid rookie season, I'm hoping that this is the last year Jerry has to coddle Ellis. The guy showed he is one of the best OLB/PRs in the league last year, so we do need him to win the Super Bowl-(See NY Giants).

Once they see we have enough pass rushers on the left side to do without him, I'm hoping that the Cowboys find Ellis a new home. This team is solid, with a lot of high character guys, and I know I'll hear, "We'll lose a high character guy if Ellis goes", but if you have a player pouting & whining every training camp, how is his 'good character' going to shine for the rookies and newer players?

I believe Spencer takes the next step this season & is de fact our starter at SOLB with Ellis coming in sometimes at SOLB & other times as a DE, DT or even occasionally as a 4th ILB to bring pressure up the middle. But totally agree with you that I'd love to see one of those undrafted rookies we sign really come on. It would be wonderful to win the SB this year and know we've got enough pass rushers on our team then we can deal Ellis to another team for whatever we can get or even release him outright if that's what he wants so he can find a new home. If he can come off a very good season in sacks on a SB winnin team, he'll probabley get more money then we think possible. Heck Al Davis will probably sign him to a 5 year contract for $50M with $30M signing bonus. Wonder if that means peace and quiet will finally rein at VR. Heck no, we are the Dallas Cowboys; something will come up.

I'm sick of Ellis whining to the media--be a man and talk to the coaches. And if you are reading this, Greg, I'm just kidding about the manhood thing.

If he says one more word, I make Spencer the starter and Ellis comes off the bench.

The fans and media should start treating him the way they treat Roy Williams, because he is the same weak whinny type *****.

You do realize that Anthony Spencer has already stepped up and was, at certain times on the field, playing better than Ware. IN fact, he was probably better in the Giants play-off game than Ware.

The more reps Spencer gets, the more we will realize how much better than he is than Greg Ellis, who was only a career below 10-sack player until Wade got here...

Ellis produces on the field. If Roy Williams came up as big as Greg did last year none of what he's doing off the field would be an issue.

Perhaps it is simply time for everyone to realize that Greg is gonna B**ch, roll your eyes and move on. Thanks to some foresight by Jerry, Greg has to report to the required activities (including Training Camp) to ensure he gets his big bonus. For the next two years, if Greg wants cash, Greg has gotta show up regardless of if Spencer takes his job or not.

I have to agree. Nothing new here. He is completely fantastic to have on your side every season and a complete headache every off season. He doesn't know what to do with his off time and he just can't keep his mouth shut. No big deal. Let him sell newspapers and then sack quarterbacks.

The more teams recognize Spencer, the more they will defense him like they do Ware.

True but you can't get your running back to chip Ware AND Spencer at the same time.

I fully expect Spencer to be better than Ellis very soon. Actually I expect him to be better this season although I might be a tad early with that... but it's what I expect.

I totally agree with you on this. He's not going anywhere, at least I hope he does. The way I see it, I'm greedy. I want all the fresh pass rushing legs we can have on this team to wear down an opponents line. I really don't care who starts between him and Spencer just as long as both of them perform and and pressure the QB. He is locked in with his contract for the next two yrs I believe so he can whine all he wants. Just Play!!!!!!!!!!

I don't see why so many people get bent out of shape. Ellis seems to motivate himself with this me against the world attitude, he knows he can't hold off Spencer forever, I'm fine with Ellis starting until Spencer is better, not because he doesn't make as much noise. If he acted this way and didn't produce, yeah I'd say cut him. But with his numbers no way

Why does it matter if Ellis is whining all offseason? He comes to play come regular season, which, last I checked is all that mattered. I have no idea why everyone wants to replace Ellis. Seriously, how many linebackers in this league are capable of 12.5 sacks? Let's just list all the linebackers who have never had 12.5 sacks in a season. Shaun Phillips, Willie McGinest, Julian Peterson, Terrell Suggs, Adalius Thomas, just to name a few. Maybe Spencer is good enough to beat Ellis out, all I'm saying is I'm betting on Ellis.

Yeah, I've lost a lot of respect for Ellis. At first I could kind of see given that it seemed to be a money issue (although Greg denied it). But Jerry and company have gone out of their way to accompany Greg by sticking with him, letting him start after coming off the injury, and giving him an extension. I'm not sure many owners would have done that with a 32 year old, coming off an achilles rupture, and who whined about going to the 3-4. It's gotten past the point of wanting to get paid, and just being plain selfish.
