CFZ Here's how I would fix the offense

LOL at Tyron having no trade value.

Well I guess that’s true if Jerry is the one making the trade. He sucks at it.
  • He is only under contract for 2023.
  • His 2023 salary is 13.6M
  • He has a long history of injuries.
  • He'll be 33 during the 2023 season.
  • He has played 17 of a possible 50 regular season games the past 3 seasons.

Why not? Again i do not want to be in the same place paying an RB big money to only watch him be hurt, if we can keep Pollard and not give away the farm then im good with it but nothing past 2 years at a time. Davis has shown speed and grit, the truth to me is the production diference between Rookie RB's and ones considered great is generally not huge, the OL and scheme play into this more than the Experience of the RB..again thats just my opinion.
He sucks

Cowboy Fans don't hate Dakota "WENTZ 2.0" Prescot, they just don't have any use for him anymore. We all know NOW that he's not capable of leading this team deep into the playoffs and can't pull for a player who's abilities are less than mediocre and who is over hyped and overpaid. If WENTZ 2.0 really wanted to be that team leader and gain the trust of this team again he would lower his salary which would increase cap space, which means better FA signings.
They aren’t getting rid of Dak as their QB this season, accept that.

I don't think we can restructure Dak contract. He has 2 years left and it's big money. Also I doubt anyone would trade for Smith. Best option is to resign Dak to another four year extension. I would also see if Smith would take a pay cut/restructure. Have him back up as a swing tackle. We could cut Zeke but we still owe him some money. He might be best to restructure him how his last two years as a Cowboys, pretty much just paying him his bonus and a little salary. I don't think we need much wr help, keep Hilton and draft a younger version of him in the draft. Biggest change this team can do is to get a better OC. Let Moore be an assistant HC or something or a offensive quality guy.

We need to hold on to Smith. Steel tore up his knee in December. Guy might not be fully ready until next year.

Good point on Steele and if he has had surgery. Also he is a RFA, so he would need to agree to terms of the offer, or a new extended contract.
I hope he doest do what DLaw did and say no new contract, no surgery.

If he looks to be 100%, look to the Bengals for a trade for Tyron. They have a history of signing our FA's, and they worked out well for them.
And they do need OL.
That was such a d&$k move by Lawrence and a slap in the face to Cowboys fans.

I have to think that he has some trade value even if it's a late round pick, I think it'd be pretty dumb not to try. Didn't they cut someone a season or two ago instead of attempting to get something for them. Or at least that's what it seemed like.

Cowboys insiders say Tyron would retire if the Cowboys tried to trade him. He has also been injured like 5 seasons in a row. You act like the Cowboys can get a top 3 round selection for him if Howie Roseman was making the trade.

Rebuild line a little. Get a faster tight end. Get a speed receiver. Maybe another RB. GET A NEW OC. simple!! Did I say get a NEW OC????

Zeke has to be let go. If he stays, Jerry will force Mac to start him.

Dak is getting restructured so that's a given. But as Parcells said, you need to start taking the ball out of Dak's hands and get it back to being a physical run based O (similar to what say San Fran does).

The next step would be figuring out what to do with your three OTs. Smith, Steele and Smith. They could just put Tyron back at LT and Tyler goes to LG but the cost associated with that is pretty high. Trading Tyron would save you $10 million in cap space. A real GM could probably get a decent haul for him. Jerry will get some late round pick because he sucks at trades. I think you have to bite the bullet and move on from Tyron. I hate it. But the franchise has faith in the two younger OTs and the cap savings is significant.

Further, along the OL, go out and find a legit veteran OC or OG that is high quality. Interior OL play has to improve. Biadasz could work if you flanked him with Martin and then a legit LG. Unfortunately, the Cowboys seem to think you draft your starting OL, which is dumb, but that's what I would do. But to me, bringing in a vet OG, even an older one who is only a year or two fix makes sense. This team isn't building to win 3 years from now. They have to win now.

Zeke has to be cut. Even if he took a major salary cut, his cap hit is too much. He's also in decline. Bring Pollard back, maybe even on a short term prove it deal since he's coming off major injury. Then you need a vet and there is a guy out there that I think would be a great fit. Raheem Mostert. I don't know how tough it would be to get him because he seems to love playing for the Shanahan/McDaniel tree and I suspect Miami wants him back. But give me Pollard, Mostert and then I can grab a TB in the middle to late rounds of the draft. Maybe even two given we have some comp picks coming our way as well.

WR has to get fixed. Lamb is a good start. The criticism of Gallup is unwarranted as he's not the first, nor the last, guy that took a year or so to get his feet back after leg surgery. I am also not ready to give up on Tolbert but he can't be viewed as part of the solution at this point. Go get a veteran WR, one higher on the pecking order than a James Washington. Then draft another, preferably in the first couple of rounds. Hyatt from Tennessee would be a nice fit here.

So

- Trade Tyron
- Sign a vet OG (or OC)
- Cut Zeke
- SIgn a guy like Mostert
- Target TB(s) in middle to late rounds
- Vet WR from a barrel higher than where they found Washington
- Draft WR in first three rounds
- I'm keeping Tyron Smith - based off his return at RT which indicates as Baldy says - he can still play; he's playing LT, he gets hurt, we move Tyler over to LT
That way we are three strong at OT upon Steele's return.; We are proteced in case Steele just may not be ready and we can play Tyler at LG
It won't be Tylers' permanent long term role; but that lessens the immediate need for a starting LG, We can draft a OG/C type in mid rd to develop and groom

- Yes if the FA Beckham is not an option (as we wouldn't have to give up a high pick) we have to draft a regard WR within the first 2 rounds. I'm not for gambling to
see if Gallup will return to form. Plus i really want an upgrade over him as he appears to be a problematic route runner.
Speed - separation skills need apply here

- Yes Zeke has to be cut .. what use is it to take a pay cut - and yet still be stuck with a vastly declining guy that still is slow as frozen syrup and just a one yrd/goal ine role player ?
if Pollard gets hurt and we'd still be stuck with same brutal slowness. A Pity since Zeke is only 27 yrs of age. Damn Garrett !

His contract can be extended to take care of that high base. Acting like his contract is a detriment to any trade is funny.

There is literally zero question Roseman would get more for Smith than Jerry. It's not even debatable.

I agree with Cooper and as I think about it the Eagles did get a first for Wentz. You are probably right.

I’m a bit bias as a TCU fan, but I’d love to see them get RB Kendre Miller in the later rounds.

My early 2023 plan:

Solidify the Coaching duties
OC
OL coach
asst positions (RB coach, etc)

FA plan:
OJ Beckham,
- RB Kareem Hunt ?
- RB James Robinson
- RB Justice Hill
- RB D' Onta Foreman

- re-sign Schultz to B-tier deal or let him walk: (per Ferguson/Pendershot
and mid-late TE draftee)

- Cut Zeke

OL moves

- Return Tyron Smith at LT, Tyler at LG
- Re-sign McGovern to 1 year deal.
- if Steele not ready yet, Tyron at RT, Tyler at LG, re-sign one year deal
McGoven with new candidate at LG

NFL Draft
- WR, CB, LB (
very high priority !)
- DT, Egde
- if Not FA, .draft a mid rd RB (pollard was a 4th rd)
- draft a top Center if available:(we blew it with Conner Williams not a center)
- return Tyron at LT

- re-sign Schultz to B-tier deal or let him walk: (per Ferguson/Pendershot
and mid-late TE draftee)

OL moves
- Return Tyron Smith at LT, Tyler at LG
- Re-sign McGovern to 1 year deal.
- if Steele not ready yet, Tyron at RT, Tyler at LG, re-sign one year deal
McGoven with new candidate at LG

Return Only if:
TY Hilton (maybe late summer signing)
Jason Peters (maybe late summer signing)

They actually didn't even give up all that much to get up to move Wentz. One of those trades was a gift swap with the Dolphins where they ended up trading some middling players and a couple of middling picks. Roseman makes some mistakes for sure but he pulls a lot of wins out of his *** too.
