I thought I'd share my version of this year's Mock Draft.
1. San Francisco selects Alex Smith, QB.
Alex Smith has genetics on his side. A tall QB has the sight that is required to be an effective QB. Aaron Rodgers is undeniably the better talent but talent means nothing if you can't use it to its full potential.
2. Miami selects Aaron Rodgers, QB.
Rodgers is the better talent than Alex Smith and Miami realizes this. They snatch him up at #2 due to Feeley being a mediocre QB in his wildest dreams.
3. Cleveland selects Mike Williams, WR.
Mike Williams has all the physical and mental tools to be a perennial Pro-Bowler. Look for Cleveland to be a force in the AFC when this kid is in the Dogpound.
4. Chicago selects Braylon Edwards, WR.
Chicago added Mushin Muhammad this offseason but he's getting no younger and Braylon Edwards is that "wave of the future" type player that Chicago needs.
5. Tampa Bay selects Ronnie Brown, RB.
Ronnie Brown is the best RB to come along in this year's draft and Tampa Bay knows that they need a runningback above all else. Michael Pittman isn't doing his job.
6. Tennessee selects Cedric Benson, RB.
Cedric Benson is an unquestionable playmaker and the Titans need one at the runningback. Chris Brown cannot stay healthy. Cedric Benson provides a high class insurance policy and can definitely spark and offensive surge with Air McNair back for another flight.
7. Minnesota selects Derrick Johnson, LB.
Derrick Johnson will provide unquestionable flair and power to the Viking linebacker corps. Though this pick is for depth having added Sam Cowart, DJ is a fiery player that they just can't pass up.
8. Arizona selects Antrel Rolle, DB.
Antrel Rolle is this year's pick of the litter. His size and speed compliment each other and Arizona desperately needs a strong defensive back. They haven't had one since the days of Aeneas Williams.
9. Washington selects Adam Jones, DB.
Dan Snyder is a moron. He let his best defender go without compensation and has made questionable decisions regarding Shawn Springs and Sean Taylor. Adam Jones is the new lead defensive back in Washington.
10. Detroit selects Shawne Merriman, LB/DE.
Merriman was a force in college and Detroit has spent four of their last five 1st round picks on offense so it's time to address the defensive side of the ball. This kid provides a major defensive upgrade and potentially a lethal combo with Boss Bailey.
11. Dallas selects Demarcus Ware, LB/DE.
Ware provides an explosive blitz linebacker and the tweener status of a situational pass rusher as a defensive end. More than likely, he will play a linebacker but his skills are undeniable.
12. San Diego selects Carlos Rogers, DB.
Rogers can pair up really well with Quentin Jammer which coincidentally is the better DB on their team. Rogers adds defensive help which can cut down on their liability on that side of the ball. Rogers and Jammer can be great cover corners when they have help and that's what they give each other.
13. Houston selects Carnell Williams, HB.
Williams dropping to here is a steal. Domanick Davis has had stellar campaigns his first two years but he can always have help and the purdy Cadillac is here to address him. An explosive runner is always in demand and this kid is one.
14. Carolina selects Alex Barron, OL.
Despite defense being a glaring need here, they go with the best player available. Offensive line help is always welcome and this kid can definitely provide cover for Jake Delhomme and Stephen Davis. The QB is most valuable when protected and he can do that quite effectively.
15. Kansas City selects Marcus Spears, DE.
Defense... defense... defense... can't state it enough. They have to have it and this is what he provides. A true DE in any scheme and a powerful rusher at that. Kansas City makes a safe pick and it will yield results.
16. New Orleans selects Thomas Davis, S/LB.
New Orleans need a linebacker and this kid is it. He's too big to play safety and depth isn't required there. He may not be explosive his rookie year, but I can tell you that he will be effective someday.
17. Cincinatti selects Jamaal Brown, OL.
Carson Palmer got ransacked many times last season because of a poor offensive line. This OT can provide cover for Palmer and recently extended Rudi Johnson. Running and passing is what makes the offense go and this kid is the key to unlocking it.
18. Minnesota selects David Pollack, DL.
Pollack at this point is the best defensive lineman available. He may be a small end but he has a motor that doesn't quit and any head coach and appreciate drive and motivation. Pollack will be big here.
19. St. Louis selects Khaliff Barnes, OL.
Barnes is a new wave of player for the Rams that has Orlando Pace and Kyle Turley getting washed away due to age and injury concerns. He'll step up and contribute day one.
20. Dallas selects Troy Williamson, WR.
This is a questionable call here seeing as any defensive end that is worthy of being drafted here is gone. Parcells is amazed that he has slipped this far and won't make a mistake taking this guy. He has amazing hands and even more amazing speed and that makes him... a what? A deep ball threat.
21. Jacksonville selects Mark Clayton, WR.
Mark Clayton will pair up well with Reggie Williams due to Jimmy Smith being out the door in a year or two. Other needs here are offensive line and running back but there aren't any players here that are worth the reach.
22. Baltimore selects Erasmus James, DE.
Erasmus James is a value pick here. He could be very successful if he makes his way into the starting lineup. If he doesn't, he is a very impacting backup DE for this team.
23. Seattle selects Fabian Washington, DB.
This kid is speedy and a great pick here. Bobby Taylor didn't work out too well and Marcus Trufant needs help so he's going to get some. A great young secondary is in the works with this pick and mark it down for years to come.
24. Green Bay selects Charlie Frye, QB.
Word is that Green Bay is enamored with this guy and missed out on Losman last year. They won't make the same mistake again even if it means making a ******** pick and reaching on him. The Favre era is almost over and the Frye reign will begin.
25. Washington selects Marlin Jackson, DB.
No surprise here that Snyder makes another dimwitted move and drafting this guy when the whole secondary is in jeopardy. Taylor is unhappy with his contract and Adam Jones needs help. So, he picks his help here. Not a very wise choice to "corner" your money.
26. Oakland selects Justin Miller, DB.
Since letting Buchanon go, this is a logical decision. Justin Miller fills the hole he leaves quite well and not as big of a headache. Though it may take him a year or two to give positive results, don't count him out of being an instant contribution.
27. Atlanta selects Matt Jones, WR.
WHAT??? Surprise of the draft but quite logical when you think about it. Vick has Peerless Price and he's not doing much. Michael Jenkins is a young and growing talent and Matt Jones is that POW!!!!!! receiver that will mess with you all game. Big, fast, and deceptive and that's what Vick can appreciate.
28. San Diego selects Roddy White, WR.
White has improves his stature quite well but him slipping this far has to be an injustice. One which San Diego is more than happy to wipe off the face of the planet. Keenan McCardell isn't getting any younger and he adds some great talent to the corps.
29. Indianapolis selects, Brodney Pool, DB.
The Colts have an undeniably good offense but a sub-par defense and this kid can plug a hole. Whoops... I made a funny! Pool can close up the gaps in the defense and create problems in the right environment so look for him to do more in Indy than he could anywhere else.
30. Pittsburgh selects Travis Johnson, DT.
The guy they wanted is gone so they nab the best pick here and that's Johnson. Clancy left so he fills the hole he left and instantly makes an already bad defense a little bit better. A defensive back would be good here but there are none that are worthy of being reached on.
31. Philadelphia selects Darryl Blackstock, LB.
Philadelphia already has a good set of linebackers but this kid can make them better. With a "fear me" mentality, he can rip apart a defense at will and that's what Andy Reid likes.
32. New England selects Channing Crowder, ILB.
With Teddy Bruschi in question, this pick is out of necessity. He's the best available at this position despite his history of injuries. He comes from a winning program and New England is a winning franchise. Coincidence? I think not...
There's my first round. I'd say that 80% or more of those picks are locks. Leave comments...
