QB (3)
Tony Romo
John Kitna
Stephen McGee (R)

Romo and Kitna are givens. McGee won't clear wavers and needs to stay on the active roster so he can practice.

RB (3)
Marion Barber, III
Felix Jones
Tashard Choice

Not much to say here.

FB (1)
Julius Crosslin

He looks like a better blocker and runner than Anderson to me.

TE (3)
Jason Witten
Martellus Bennett
John Phillips (R)

Witten and Bennett are superb. Phillips is a great blocker, plays every TE position well, is much more athletic than people believe and catches everything thrown his way.

WR (5)
Roy Williams
Patrick Crayton
Sam Hurd
Miles Austin
Kevin Ogletree (R)

I think we can all agree Ogletree is fantastic, all around. Stanback has shown me nothing.

OT (4)
Flozell Adams
Marc Columbo
Doug Free
Pat McQuistan

Free's looking pretty good. You have no have four tackles and McQuistan can play guard too, so he sticks til the '10 draft.

OG (3)
Leonard Davis
Kyle Kosier
Travis Bright (R)

Bright is big, athletic and versatile; Holland is short, fat and only plays guard.

C (2)
Andre Gurode
Duke Preston

Preston's better than Procter, cheaper than Procter and more versatile than Procter. He's a young veteran player who I can see having a long career in Dallas.

DE (4)
Marcus Spears
Igor Olshansky
Steven Bowen
Kevin Hatcher

The starters are solid, but far from spectacular. Bowen and Hatcher have both played very well in preseason. No one else is really pushing for a spot.

NT (2)
Jay Ratliff
Junior Siavii

Ratliff is all-world. I'll give Siavii the benefit of the doubt.

LB (10)
Demarcus Ware
Anthony Spencer
Bradie James
Keith Brooking
Bobby Carpenter
Steve Octavien
Jason Williams (R)
Curtis Johnson
Victor Butler (R)
Matt Stewart

It sounds like Johnson is a given to make the team. Stewart, who's been very solid in preseason and plays multiple positions, hangs around at least til Jason Williams is ready to go.

CB (5)
Terence Newman
Mike Jenkins
Orlando Scandrick
Alan Ball
Mike Mickens (R)

Gotta have five corners, and I know that Smith plays corner as well as safety, but Ball may still be recovering from a concussion in week one.

S (4)
Gerald Sensabaugh
Ken Hamlin
Mike Hamlin (R)
DeAngelo Smith (R)

Stewart is a better LB than Watkins is a safety, and Stewart is a good special teams player too.

K (2)
Nick Folk
David Buehler (R)

Beeler's leg will be a huge factor for the Cowboys.

P (1)
Mat McBriar

LS (1)
L.P. Ladouceur

I think they'll keep Watkins over Mickens. Don't really like the idea, but I think that's how it will fall. Don't think Bright makes it over another lineman.

However, your 53 is pretty viable.

Wade said that Cricket was our best FB outside of that it looks right to me

I agree with everything except Mickens.

I'm not sure he makes it, he seems to be a lock for the PS.

But great list there, I sure hope that's our 53, I'm ready to move on from Stanback.

That’s pretty good. Although i am not sure about the FB position. Would they keep 2? Crosslin is a mixed bag...good and bad, mostly just inexperience. Anderson is injured...Hmmmm. I don’t know.

with B Williams and Brewster on IR/PUP....M Johnson and Hodge are the "dont make its" from the draft...but maybe make it to PS (esp Hodge)

Still, a lot of rookies on that team.

Well done, VA.

I have a feeling Watkins will make it over one of the rookies. Hodge should probably be on IR.

Mainly because of his special teams work, I think Cricket keeps his spot at FB.

since FB is hardly used in our offense, and Anderson is a good special teamer, I think he gets the nod

other than that, looks good

I have my doubts that Bright makes it

Deon Anderson>Julius Crosslin
Montrae Holland>Travis Bright(I like Bright, but he goes to PS with Gibbons)

I also wonder if they cut Matt Stewart for a week so that his salary isn't guaranteed. But then Bobby would be the only healthy inside LB. I wonder if Octavien could take reps there? Pat Watkins is a core ST, so I think he makes it.

Made my corrections in bold. One more spot left. Either goes to Stanback, Mickens, Octavien or even DeAngelo Willingham. I say it goes to Mickens.

That Scientific Football guy was very complimentary of Cricket's blocking. IF the staff thinks like that too, then he makes the team, especially considering his special teams work.

McGee goes on IR...no reason why he wouldn't...as #3, he's not playing this year, and with Romo and Kitna, he can develop in practice next year...he's 3-4 years away from being a #2.

RB (3)
Marion Barber, III
Felix Jones
Tashard Choice

FB (1)
Julius Crosslin

That would be my choice...I can't imagine Anderson being kept as the only FB with no preseason snaps...that said, it's probably going to be Anderson because of Special Teams.

TE (3)
Jason Witten
Martellus Bennett
John Phillips (R)

WR (5)
Roy Williams
Patrick Crayton
Sam Hurd
Miles Austin
Kevin Ogletree (R)

Lots of fans on this site won't like it, but you can definitely add Stanback to that list...we will keep 6 receivers...having Roy and Hurd both dinged at the same time sends the message that you need 6 and Stanback has the experience if not the production.

OT (4)
Flozell Adams
Marc Columbo
Doug Free
Pat McQuistan

I agree, but McQ could say goodbye with Davis ready to move to OT and plenty of depth at OG now...it would be a mildly surprising move.

OG (3)
Leonard Davis
Kyle Kosier
Travis Bright (R)

Holland's not going anywhere, imo.

C (2)
Andre Gurode
Duke Preston

DE (4)
Marcus Spears
Igor Olshansky
Steven Bowen
Kevin Hatcher

The starters are solid, but far from spectacular. Bowen and Hatcher have both played very well in preseason. No one else is really pushing for a spot.

NT (2)
Jay Ratliff
Junior Siavii

Siavii?...maybe...or he may just keep the spot warm until final cuts and a veteran pickup.

LB (10)
Demarcus Ware
Anthony Spencer
Bradie James
Keith Brooking
Bobby Carpenter
Steve Octavien
Jason Williams (R)
Curtis Johnson
Victor Butler (R)
Matt Stewart

I think Stewart is gone; Hodge stays either on the 53 or IR.

CB (5)
Terence Newman
Mike Jenkins
Orlando Scandrick
Alan Ball
Mike Mickens (R)

Goodbye Mike Mickens

S (4)
Gerald Sensabaugh
Ken Hamlin
Mike Hamlin (R)
DeAngelo Smith (R)

Hello Courtney Brown...coaches remember him playing well last season and ignore one preseason game.

David Buehler (R)

Don't ask me if my opjections equal 53...:D ...I just see some alternative routes. I DO feel certain on Stanback though...no way we go with only 5 WRs. If he's healthy now, he sticks on the roster....again.

It was also Crosslin that missed the block on Haralson on Romo's pick.

The blocking assignments on that play are odd. Flozel lets him go right by him. But Crosslin did have some good blocks in that game.

You just ruined a good 53.

Only way Stanback survives: Returns a kickoff for a TD and has about 5 catches for positive yards. No fumbles.
