It took me a few days to get into this forum because I can't deal with all the posters who's lives hinge on the win/loss record of the Cowboys.

Here's some reality:

Dallas can't beat anybody in the playoffs with a defense that can't compete. And this one cannot compete.

Rome checks out of run plays when the other team puts more than 8 in the box. Green Bay had almost 10 guys in the box at times. Face it, it was a bad pass to Austin over the middle. It happens. And Beasley pulled up on his route instead of finishing. That really doesn't matter. You can't have it both ways. In years gone by, the Cowboys would have run, run , run and then punted with four minutes left on the clock. Then everyone would be crying about not lbeing aggressive to close it out. You think leaving it up a defense that didn't force a punt in the second half was a good strategy? Romo threw a bad pass or two. It happens. I applaud Romo for trying to plunge the dagger.

I didn't hear a word about Mathew Stafford and his 3 picks that may have cost the Lions a playoff spot last night. His last pick was horrendous. The Eagles let a backup without his two top running backs put 48 on them. But the NFL channel dedicates 20 minutes to Romo and his picks. They've been waiting for 15 weeks to run that segment. Eventually Tony is going to have a multi pick game.

How soon can they let Kiffin go? Why are they waiting? Marinelli cannot do worse.

Given that our run game was working just fine in this game I thought that continuing to jam it down their throats late was the appropriately aggressive strategy.

I actually didn't mind the decision to be aggressive and throw.

It was the execution that got me. The inability to realize by checking out of the run play that he would have a guy bearing down on him quickly. The inability to throw the ball early when Austin was actually open.

It's all a bit of second guessing, but at the same time I've just seen this too many times from Romo.

Now this is how to legitimately complain.

So you avoided this forum because of the typical CowboysZone fans, only to post what a typical CowboysZone fan would post (i.e. bad defense, Romo checks out of runs, we need to run more, fire Kiffen).

Austin was still open at the time.. the throw was just behind him instead of leading him for what would have been a big gain.

Problem is Austin is not going to fight for that ball........................Austin is never going to fight for a ball..........................unless you hit him in stride he is just going to stand there and watch it get picked.

Why do you people keep comparing Stafford and Romo.

Stafford is 25. Not in his prime. He can and will improve.

Romo is 10 years older. Romo is old and he can't improve anymore. He is what he is. He peaked 6 years ago. He is DONE.

.

I see this a lot on here. Romo makes a mistake.....but but but...Tom Brady didnt get it done. but but Tom Brady threw an INT. Big deal. Its like people feel slighted that Romo gets heat yet Tom Brady doesnt.
Like it or not, for Romo to shut up the critics, he needs to go on a winning binge in the playoffs. And probably needs to win a super bowl. Thats it. In spite of coaching, in spite of the defense, in spite of Jerry Jones. When he wins, the critics will quietly disappear. Until then, this is how it goes. And I believe this is what magnifies the need for a new head coach. Romo isnt a young guy anymore. The clock is ticking.

Hint, don't start a thread by categorically belittling your audience for caring about a subject that you are about to weigh in on. It's just bad speechcraft.

Well, it sounds better when he says it.

yeah but that wasn't Stafford's 20th game of throwing a late INT in a tight game and costing his team. Maybe he'll get there, but he's not in Romo's choke league yet.

I was going to say the same thing. If the guy is going to make this "Grand Entrance", he needs to be a lot more original than coming in with things that have been covered over and over before he strutted in.

if I wasn't so lazy, I would sit down and calculate how much time we left on the clock as opposed to running the ball. Even three and outs running the ball can take over 3 minutes off the clock per possession or make them burn their timeouts. It came down to the very end for them to catch us.

This team is really just too stupid...honestly.

He tried to make the play.. kinda tough to do when you're entire momentum is going one way and you try to change that on a dime.

The problem here wasn't Austin.. who ran a good route and had a step on his man.. the problem was another inaccurate throw from the QB.

And don't forget about the other 5 or so passes he MISSED. The ones where all he has to do is THROW IT FARTHER..... He is DONE. Oh he will win some more games, have some good numbers.......but will CHOKE once a game with anything on the line is being played. That is what average QB's do.
