and the Draft to build on our previous season.
QB
I would consider trying to get someone younger than B Johnson to back up Romo in FA.
(In the Draft, I would consider taking a QB Day 2 to groom over the next 2-3 years as a back-up and/or trade bait a few years from now. Let's see if the opportunity presents itself.)
OL
I would attempt to sign Flo to a "fair" deal for 3 years or so.
(In the draft, once again I'd take an OL, Day 2 most likely, to continue to add depth to the OL.)
RB
We need two players here.
One RB via FA who we can depend on to pick up the blocking schemes, etc. but who can also fill in for MBIII. Preferably, the vet should have ST capabilities as well. Cartwright is one guy who may fit the bill and shouldn't be too expensive.
We get one more guy in the first 4 rounds of the Draft, depending on how the Draft pans out.
WR
Again, I think we need 2 players here as well.
One via FA to complement TO, and one to develop as our future number 1 guy via the Draft. I think guys like Hardy, Doucet, etc. would be interesting pick-ups with our 28th pick, assuming no R Williams trade.
CBs
Again, we need 2 guys.
I'd take one via FA, for example, Springs or Florence or Gay, and I'd take one in the Draft. Hopefully Round 1. Henry typically gets nicked up during the season, and today's offenses seem to be going 3 WR sets more frequently.
LBs
I'd look to get one more ILB who can push for a starting role via FA or the Draft. Also, I'd take a flyer late in the Draft for someone to challenge for depth at the OLB as well.
I think these are the key moves.
So, in FA,
Re-sign Flo and Hamlin. Then,
1 Back-up QB upgrade for Johnson
1 RB (back-up for TT at the least plus ST dimension)
1 WR (to take over for Glenn)
1 CB (to upgrade Reeves)
Possibly look for an ILB who fits Wade's scheme.
In the Draft,
1 CB fairly high
1 WR fairly high
1 RB fairly high
1 LB (looking at Rounds 2-7)
I'd consider picking up an OL, NT and QB (later part of Day 2) as well, depending on where there was value.
