Hey all, first of all first time posting.. Long time reader of CZ, decided its time to get involved in posting. I'm a lifetime Cowboys fan from California in college atm, just thought I'd introduce myself and hopefully contribute something you guys would enjoy to see / hear.

Anyways onto the material, Herm Edwards is one of the ESPN analysts I have a ton of respect for, and I've been trying to get as much Cowboys stuff into me the past couple of months and I'm sure many of you are as well. His take on the Cowboys is actually much more optimistic than I thought it would be.

For those of you who can't watch the video I'll make a quick summary of what he had to say.

For Cowboys to win the division and have a chance at the Super Bowl:
Need to win 12 games.
Must concentrate on improving the defensive end more than anything.
Tony Romo is definitely Super Bowl quality QB.
They are very good offensively, have enough weapons to make a run.
Need help in the secondary and at linebacker.
Biggest issue last year was the defense not able to maintain our 4th quarter leads.

I'm honestly really disappointed he didn't mention offensive line or defensive line. Two areas I really believe Dallas needs to be strengths rather than weaknesses for them to have a shot to make a deep run. It starts in the trenches before anything!

Go Cowboys!

I'm with you on those positions. But, I think the team has a lot of needs all along the whole team...but, the team is moving in the right direction for a change.

Very much agree..I think we're seeing the future evolve a bit now as this off season looks to be a lot of JG and Stephen

I know we all say we have a bunch of positions of need but look at last couple year super bowl champions. No one would have predicted they would win and they had many positions that needed upgrading but still pulled it off.

This is the truth of it. Your average naysayer/realist who in fact often has unrealistic demands of the team will disagree to their dying breath.

QFT....

I really think what our past teams needed was "committment"!

Uphold the tradition of the Star. Don't come to Dallas for a paycheck. Come to play for the Cowboys because you want to achieve something that all members of the team wants...a SB!

I think Coach Garrett is the right coach...he knows what it takes to make a run...he's been there, done that.

Like they say, football is 90% mental, and 10% physical....because tons of players are physical, but, do they want it?

We are headed in the right direction. Every team has weakness.
The 12 wins are because I think Edwards thinks the Eagles are going to win 10-11. The Eagles OL situation hopefully brings them back a step this year.
One quality rusher opposite Ware that can effect a couple of drives a game and another good olman so we can run the ball in the 4th qtr and we could be top 3 (GB & SF) NFC. Romo usually gives us the lead in the 4th qtr, we have to find away to hold it.
Love seeing Cali's that are Cowboy fans.Welcome aboard.

Hopefully Carr helps us out. Maybe Carter might help. But, yeah, the defense has to step it up.

I think we're seeing that being built...it just takes a little time.

No kidding about Carr. You know who that move is going to affect more than anyone? Eli, he will no longer be able to come to the line on 3rd down and find Newman and know exactly where he is going.

He pretty much nailed it when he said the Cowboys need to win 12 games to win the division because I see both NY and Philly winning at least 11 games.

why would we need to win 12 games? 9 games won it last year.

The Skins, Eagles, and Giants are all going to win 11. The NFCE is going to run roughshod through the rest of the league. Except for the Cowboys, because we don't have a Center.
